Title: My big race
Post by: Dee Dee and Hallie on October 10, 2009, 06:47:03 PM
Hokay so I did my first wiener dawg race today. Mama kept telling me GO SLOW don't hurt your little self. So she stuck me in dis box next to a boy doxie named Max. When they opened da box I at first wasn't sure what to do...this wasn't like no kind of recall I ever did in da dawg shows. So I finally comed out and trotted myself down the lane but couldn't see my mama so I stopped to ask the nice man if he knew where my mama went. (Mom's friends said I was being a Diva and showing my hair doo off to the crowd!) Then I saw her and came the rest of the way but Max had got to the end long before I even saw it! I didn't know it was a RACE. My mama scooped me up and hugged me lots and told me I was the bestest racer in the world so I guess I still did OK.  Here is a little video mama took, she turned it off so she could hold her arms out to me. She's not the brightest knife in the shed so she videod it sideways (STILL haven't learned that lesson from when she filmed Ron and Delia and girls sideways at the lighthouse!). She never did call me or encourage me to run because she said she wanted me to GO SLOW that is why I didn't see her or know where to go!

It was a very fun day we went shopping with our friends afterwards me in my stroller.

I got my picture took with two cute lil twin girls.

Then a liddle boy gave the back of my head a massage.

I got my picture taken with my friend Lily, who owns the people who own the nursery where the wiener dawg races were. Lily and I have been friends for 5 years she comes to the store every day.

My Mom and her friends entered a vote on how much this big pumpkin weighed. Mom was about 12 lbs under so I sat on top hoping the judges wouldn't notice me when they weighed it!

Sounds like you had a wienerful day, Miss Hallie!  I'm glad you didn't go too fast so that your mommy worried about you.  Looks like you've got some cool friends that love to snuggle you.

I couldn't have been the only one to have to stop and ask directions, could I? I think a lot of the boys would have had to but you know how men are about asking directions...

LOL JetEd that had to be it.  :2funny: Hallie's been watching too much of America's Next Top Model (Petite Version). We can blame them!

I noticed that too Fin! I don't fink that was in the rules...if we do it again next year I will try that if they let us, that way I can be sure to keep her as slow as i want!  :thumb: If she would have won this heat I would have scratched her anyhoo.

I have to laugh watching her video I know just what she was thinking. When I put her in the box (it has lattice all around it so they can see out) I could tell she was going, what the heck is this...but oh well I am never surprised at what Mom asks me to do. I had her come to the front and sit and gave her a treat like I would if doing a recall. Then I walked down the track (slowly...to be a good example to her of course) and I'm sure she got up and turned around to inspect the box and figure it out. So she didn't see me get to the end. When the door opened I didn't call her or anything (it was too loud anyway with the crowds) and she didn't come right out I'm sure not knowing she was supposed to (Mama put me here...I'm stayin'!) when she did it was like she was just running along becuase the other dog and his Dad were, but she clearly didn't know why they were running. So the first guy she sees standing out from the crowd she stopped hoping it might be me, it wasn't so she headed back not sure what she was supposed to do. Then I called her after I turned the video off and she came trotting the rest of the way to me. She never was worried or frantic at all she just was confoosed!  :angel4: If there had been no box I'm thinking she would have understood better because it would have been like a regular recall just longer. It worked out perfectly though she didn't go too fast and we both had a ball!
