It occurred to me that even though I've posted a handful of times and several of you donated to Jethro's auction and commented on the rescues I've posted, I have not introduced myself. So, here goes:
I'm Andrea, mom to more dachshunds than I can count right now and foster mom to at least 5 doxies for Gulf Coast Dachshund Rescue. I take in the ones that need that last chance, the ones that would probably be long term fosters, and even the puppies that would normally be short term. I have no adult supervision, so there's no one to say "we are NOT taking another dog in"
I'm currently one year from retirement in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Gulfport MS. I am also a certified animal communicator and have a website http://andreatalkstoanimals.com/ you can visit if you're interested in that type of thing.
All of my critters are rescues. I'll list the pack of Anipals:
Otto-11 who is now almost 2 months post-op from blowing a disk. He's been with me since April 1st 1999

Hello there and thanks for the pics of your wonderful anipals and the introduction. There we were, thinking you were just Mum to Otto! You must have one of the biggest hearts in the world, bless you for giving your pals such a loving and caring home and saving them from the worst of the human race.
I´m Andrea too, married to Miguel, Mum to Red (7 on 21 Oct., roan wire miniature and very male) and to Islay (6 on 11 Sep., kaninchen longhaired mahogany princess). We live in Altea, Provincia de Alicante, Spain. I´m a Scot and my husband s originally from Mallorca in the Balearics. Attached is a piccie of them in spoilt mode on the sofa sporting harnesses made by a friend. They´re normally naked and love mountain walking and playing on grass.
Congratulations on your upcoming retirement, may the day be soon, sounds like you have your work cut out to fill your days thereafter. Loved your blog on sleeping with dogs!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about all your critters. You must have a huge heart for taking them all in.
What a beautiful pack! You must never be lonely.
I am Jennifer. My husband Cale and I live in Ohio. We have 4 boys named Hemi, Cyrus, Oscar, and Sammy. If you click on the Member's Gallery link by my profile picture, you can see pictures of the boys, including our beloved senior (also named Oscar) who passed away in March. Like you, we have a dachsund/non-dachshund pack. Hemi is a rescue from a local shelter, about 6 years old. He was my first dog as an adult and turned me from a catlover to a doglover. I adopted him in 2004 when he was almost 1 year old. Cyrus is Cale's baby, the basenji. He is going to turn 3 in December. Oscar (red tweenie) was supposed to be my foster through Angels for Animals. Needless to say, we fell in love. He came to live with us on Halloween 2007 and is estimated to be about 8. Sammy is our latest addition. We adopted him from DRNA in June 2009. He is a true standard black/tan and is 2 years old. I wish we had room for more!
You. Are. My. Hero! I am jealous! I (unfortunatly) have an adult to tell me no (silly boyfriend) so i doubt i will be blessed with as many puppers as you. But im trying!
YOur whole pack is so beautiful, but Trudy and Matilda took my breath away!

No help, I'm alone with them. I do have a wonderful vet, and the majority of mine must be taken in to get their nails done. Shoot, Otto has to be sedated because he acts like you're sawing his arms off when you go to take care of his nails. I've got a dremmel and not one of those hounds will tolerate it. The fight is too much for just me, so I take them in.
Feeding them all takes about 20 minutes, and there is too much barking for my taste, but it's only for a few moments. The majority eat in kennels, and know to go right in to be fed. Some are still learning, and driving me up a wall.
I spend lots of my time cleaning, as I've got a marker, a befuddled senior, and an assortment of JERKS who just don't care to be trained. I do get help with the food, I've got a donor who wanted to help out and that was one way to do so.
I do the readings to help with the vet bills, and have someone help out with that too, but I try not to abuse their generosity. I take in the ones that have no hope, whose only crime is having the bad luck of never being trained properly or being old, and I let them be dogs.
You and your pets are truly blessed. You are really too wonderful and one of the biggest heart I've met.
