Zeke has a behavior which is definitely unique among the dachsies that I've owned. Wonder if any of the other furkids exhibit this behavior:
When Zeke is in a sitting position and I talk to him, or when he starts getting excited, he begins to shift his weight between his forepaws, making him look like he is leaning to the left and right. When he does this, we say the he is doing the "Zekey Shuffle". It could be the strength of his tail pushing his body. Zeke like to wag his tail...a lot. Both Zs do a lot more tail wagging than Rudy & Max did, but Zeke tail is almost always in a constant state of wag.
Funny you should say that. Red does the same thing and has tail-overdrive at the same time. We call it dachsie dancing. He does it when he´s thrilled to see us and when he´s excited knowing we´re going to take him out.
Islay jumps up and down with both front paws at a time lifting her body completely off the ground except for the back paws.....the first time any of my dachsies or teckels have ever done that. She does it when she wants us to throw her ball or another toy to play fetch. Maybe somebody else has a dachsie who does this too?
YES! Hallie does it too. But her tail is not involved. She just shifts left to right to left to right really fast like a little happy dance. It's so cute when they do that.

Zora does the same thing Islay does. She will also "swat" at you with one paw to get your attention.
Yes Oliver does it when he does the red cordial buzz. He is not a avid tail wagger his stays low and slow. Madam diva is the opposite the tail never stops, she also when she barks "where is dinner" the head goes up and to one side and the front legs leave the ground.

Hee. Her fuzzy twin in the states does the same thing.
Murphy does it too-and he does that happy bounce on both front feet-usually bouncing backward when the food dish is on the move. :2funny:
Max P. does the food bounce, Lily is the avid tail wagger and she does the bounce when it is tie to go outside, Minna will go from sitting position to on her back feet leaning her back against the chair and waves both front paws when she wants attention, and Gabbe does the side to side thing (not only shifting from one paw to the other, but also the head is going side to side) and the patting me with her paw when she wants pets. So I have all sorts of interesting doxie behavior going on here. LOL!
That's FUNNY! Bonnie wags her tail ALL THE TIME! When she really gets it going, she starts Moon Walking. She prances backwards.
Oh yes we also have the paw thing here...the paw always reaches out and holds on to your wrist if you try to pull away she curls her nails gently into your arm and holds on to you. Funny how these little ones can be so much alike.
forgot the paw, and sometmes the roll so you can go directly to the chest.

Fin sits straight up with his front legs dangling when he wants something, he looks just like a little merecat. Its hilarious, and he can sit like that forever!

That's Zora. She actually uses her tail to make a "tripod"...Max-angel did the same thing. Zeke is too front-heavy (and too tiny in the rear) to do that. Rudy-angel used to try to "stand" on his hind legs and balance.
Yeah we also taught Fin to "Box" So when he sits like that if you make a "punch" motion at him he waves his little paws at you. Its just hilarious, cuz he gets really into it, and will just keep going and going after you stop. Now you just have to say "Box" and he will do it.
