I'm happy to report that Uncle Dallas is doing much better. :hello2: :apls: He can now lift his feet off the pedals of his wheelchair, on his own. And he is also using a special pedal machine (don't know what its called) to strengthen his legs. The physical therapist is thrilled with his progress and is amazed he is recovering so quickly. My family is planning on going to an extra special party this weekend at his nursing home. They are having an ice cream social in honor of Grandparent's Day. Since Dallas's kids and grand-daughter can't be there (won't come!), we are going to call him "Gramps" for the day. I'm sure he will be thrilled to see all of us. We'll have to have him show off his new exercises when we are there.
Can you sneak Porky Pie into the nursing home for this event? I am sure a visit from Porky would cheer up anyone
That is wonderful news I hope they let him go back home maybe with one of those buttons too push for help?
How wonderful that he is doing so much better. Keep on getting better and better Uncle D!!!!!

I wish we could!!! They have some residents right now that are allergic to dogs, so we can't take Porky in.

If he can get steady on his feet again, then he might be able to come home again. He already has a med. alert system installed in his home and has a necklace to wear with a button on it. As of right now, if would be too dangerous for him to be at home. His home is not wheelchair accessible. I believe it is up to his kids now, if or when, he can come home.

Thanks!!! He is a strong man, I'm amazed at his progress, since we were told it would be very unlikely that he would be able to move his legs on his own ever again.
That was so wonderful to hear, way to go Uncle D. Can't wait to see tons of pics with the surprise event! ;)
Dallas is doing great!! My hubby and I went to visit him a week and a half ago. We called before we went and found out that his son was there also. :apls: Dallas told us we were welcome to visit, but he and his boy were watching the football game that afternoon. He said we could stay if we wanted, but we would have to sit completely silent while his son was his "eyes" during the game. :2funny: He also kept showing us something my dad made to tie his mini magnifying glass on and hang it around his neck. He kept saying, "Isn't this great Noose?!! My nephew made it for me, I love it!!!" It was quite entertaining to see the looks on people's faces when they heard him say that. We had to explain it so many times.
Dallas is healing really nicely and is giving all his nurses a hard time. He even got one nurse talked into buying him popcorn, a pizza, and some diet soda for him and his roommate to eat during the football game. He wanted beer, but the nurse said he'd have to compromise since he was on pain medication. He also wanted to show us that he could walk 2 feet in the hallway!! :meme: :apls: His physical therapist tried to get him to take the day off, but Dallas insisted. We were thrilled to see him up and walking, even if it was just a small step. Dallas also saw his surgeon last Monday and he was impressed at the progress. Also he said that everything is healing nicely and was staying in perfect alignment.
How wonderful Amorette!!! I am so happy that Uncle Dallas is doing so well!!!
