Ohhh I didn't realize they would make him wear the dreaded lamp shade! Hallie and Sophie didn't have to wear one after their spay (or if they did I wasn't told about it so didn't do it!). He is going to heal so fast though I'm so glad this is over with!

Awww, bless him for being such a brave boy.  You snuggle well up to your Mummy and you´ll be feeling well again soon sweetie.  That "look" is devastatingly irresistible, I´m not surprised you´re all set up to snuggle down there with him.  Sleep well, both of you.

Poor Fin!  Porky has been lucky and never experienced the "collar of doom" yet.  Although I literally begged the vet to give us one when Porky wouln'dt quit scratching his eyes.    I'm glad his surgery went well and he is home.   He needs treats when he's feeling better!

He is actually doing quite well with it! The only problem we have really had is that he keeps wanting to walk with his nose to the ground so the bottom of the cone gets caught on the carpet and he gets stuck. Plus he normally walks againsts the wall and he keeps clipping the edge of it on corners. He managed to wiggle it off last night after keeping his mom up till four and she had passed out from exhaustion. So he bugged his owie a bit but when i called the vet she said that as long as it didnt look irritated and wasnt bleeding he was fine. There was a bit of blood on the floor when we got up but it looks totally fine. They didnt use stiches.. Has anyone else had that? He wants to be on me constantly too. Its like he thinks im gonna leave again. Thats ok though, i dont mind that part a bit!

They were so good to him, it took forever to get out of there when i picked him up because all the vet techs and girls at the front all wanted to go say bye cuz they all loved him so much! I am sending them flowers today because they were so patient with me when i was bawling my head off, and called me as soon as the surgery was over to let me know he was ok. And they clipped his nails for free!!

On the recipt it has a break down for everything and at the end it says:

1. Hugs and Kisses   ---------------------  Free Of Charge

I thought that was cute.

I would say by last night he was back to his old self, trying to chase the cat and he kept trying to pull toys out of his basket. This hasnt slowed him down a bit. Which is stressing momma out ALOT.

In summery though, i would say this was more traumatizing for me by a long shot.

I have never heard of a pupper not gettin stitches when they were neutered.  I love the hugs and kisses part of the receipt!  That is adorable!   I'm glad he's feeling happy and bouncy again.  Its so hard to keep them from running around.  Porky was a crazy dog after his was done, I could not get him to quit running everywhere.   I think it is always more traumatizing to us humans, than our pups.

dis is Parker: I am so glads you is on the mend. I had dat surgery when I was 2 months so I don't remember much.  Now you will not have to worry about paying out any hugh "puppy" support payments. Dat can cost a wot of money I hear.
Get lots of tweets, and milk it for all it's worth. I fink it takes about ummmmmmmmmmmmm 12 years to heal.  :dontknow: :dontknow:

Parker's Mom here: I am so glad Finn is on the mend. It's a most necessary surgery. Parker was done before we purchased him. Many breeders in Ontario have it done before they are sold so that they don't end up in "Puppy Mill" breeding facilities. There are also a lot of back yard breeders in Ontario that don't know what they are doing. I was reading the paper today and somebody has home raised dapples for sale. Both parents are dapples. Yikes, no reputable breeder would do that. They want $800 for the pups with no papers.  :doah:

I have never heard of no stitches (nothing??) with a neuter either. Did they use surgical glue? Things keep changing I can't keep up! :)

Hallie only had to wear a collar once I woke up that night and she was laying next to me, I couldn't see her face but the cone was pointed to the ceiling and not moving. She was miserable so I took it off and just tried to keep an eye the best I could. They do make the new kinds now that look more comfortable for them the soft ones that just go around the neck? But I've not seen one in person.

So glad Fin is feeling so much better!!!!

Maybe he has to wear it BECAUSE he didnt get stiches? I kinda assumed they must have used surgical glue.. Maybe its easier to break apart.

Whatever though, he makes an adorable lamp.

Whew, Finnegan - Bastian feels your pain over the E-collar!  His surgery was two weeks ago tomorrow, and he finally got to take off his collar this afternoon.  He has dissolving stitches, but am not sure how long they take to dissolve...
