Title: Visitor Sunday morning...................
Post by: Shumard4 on August 27, 2009, 01:26:41 PM
Siggy has taken to sleeping on the couch a couple of times a week and Sunday that is where he was at when suddenly he barked. He never does this in the middle of the night so I figured he needed to go out. So I get up look at the clock 2 am and go to the door. Outside he goes nuts the rest of the pack comes running even Granny got up to see what was the fuss. I grab my robe and shoes and out I go. They pups were barking and growling and carrying on at the gate. I walk over to see an outline I believe to be a cat humped over cleaning it's self. About that time it looks up and see's me. It is an armadillo, imagine my surprise. I have never seen one that close and when he seen me he thought he should high tale it out of there. Funny thing is the dogs didn't seem to faze him at all. Wished I would have thought to grab the camera.

Yikes! I don't know much about armadillos, but I know they have nasty claws. At least the pack kept their distance from him. You must live out in the country. I live in Texas but in the suburbs - never seen an armadillo except as road kill.

We live in SW Missouri and we actually live in town but the population is only 1000. We are on the corner of the busiest road. I am just glad that our yard is very secure. I don't think they can bite but I didn't know about the claws. Only squirrels and birds can get in though.
