Oh boy! We got to go to the doggy park yesterday. It was so fun. Not too many little doggies were there and me and my sis were the only long dogs. Well, I was "supervising" the big dogs, let's see, there was a Rottie and a Labby and 2 other doggies with LONG legs. They were so fast. Suddenly I wasn't just running after them anymore. They were CHASING ME! I had to run soooo fast and they were gaining on me. I was getting scared and started squealing (yip yip yip)! Then one of the long leggers rolled me completely over but I righted myself and just kept running. 'Bout that time, my mommy and papa and the other humans there decided that the big doggies were being a little too rough and made them stop chasing me. I was glad. But you know what? I wasn't traumatized or anything. I was still wagging my tail when it was all over and I wasn't hurt at all. Mommy was relieved at that. She's such a worry wart. So I went home a very tired doggy. The only thing is, last night in my dreams, I dreamed of those big, fast doggies chasing me. Mommy and papa heard me squeaking and yipping in my sleep. I NEVER do that. Don't worry, next time, I will be the chasER and not the chasEE.
Bonnie
Mommy here. I didn't know what to think. At first it looked like fun, but then I think little Bonnie was looking more like a rodent to those big dogs and their game turned a little more serious (pack mentality and all that). Thankfully Bonnie was not hurt in the least (though that roll LOOKED scary) and we were able to restore order pretty quickly. I think though in the future, we might save the dog park for dachsie days only.
Whew! I am so glad that Bonnie is OK. Those rolls look scary. Best to keep doggie play with pups around her size I guess.
Yikes, that would be scary!!! Porky loves the dog park too. When we go, we go in the special section. They have two sections at ours, one section is for any and all dogs and the other section is strictly, for small, elderly, or non-social dogs. If there is any other dogs in there, you must ask permission to come in. I always take Porky in there because a lot of the bigger dogs, think he's their baby. They always run over scoop him up in their mouths and carry him everywhere. We have even had tw big dogs fight over Porky before. So...now we keep him with only little dogs.
I wish this park had separate sections for big and little dogs but it doesn't. It's not even enclosed, so you have to watch that they don't wander off into the road to the parking lot or TO the parking lot. When Bonnie first came to us, she'd head for the hills across the road as soon as we weren't looking. Nowadays, she's more reliable than Maddie for sticking close and checking in after she plays.
I've never heard of dogs claiming a little dog for their baby. While that must be scary to have Porky carried around by a big dog (terrifying actually), if they are gentle, it must be kind of cute too.
Oh my...that sounds so frightening!!! I am very glad that Bonnie is okay.
Oh gosh I'm glad Bonnie is OK too. Rolls are scary. I can't believe they don't have separate sections for the different dog sizes. And not even enclosed? We got our first one here near me last year, it does have two sections and a nice cyclone fence. They have big cement tunnels and stuff for the dogs to play on too. I haven't taken Hallie, you never know what another dog might do and I worry about diseases and stuff. But they are a good idea I was hoping it would cut down on the number of big dogs running off leash at the park but it really hasn't. :thinik: You be careful Bonnie it sounds like you had some fun there in the midst of it you were a very good girl.
