Title: Look where I got to go today!!
Post by: Teresa on August 14, 2009, 07:41:08 PM
This evening when my daddy went to run in circles, he told my mamma that I should go, too. He said dat dere were lots of big birds at the school that has the black circle and I would like to see them. I was quite excited. Mamma got her camera and my leash and off we went. When we got dere, dis is what we saw...

I didn't quite know what to think, but I liked all those smells (and I really liked all the poop, but mamma said I couldn't eat it). This is what I looked like watching them..

That last picture shows some of the goose poop that I really loved. Story will be continued in next post!

After a while we heard the geese talking to each other and start lining up. My mamma said it was just like planes in an airport. (My daddy is running in the background in this picture).

They must have been on their way to the runway or something. They just kept talking to each other...

Here are the first ones to make it to the runway...

We didn't get a good picture of them taking off because we were too close and they were too fast, but mamma did get a good one of them after they were in the air. She said they were going to find a place to sleep for the night...

I really wanted to go and play in the wonderful goose-poop scented mud, but mamma wouldn't let me roll in it. When we got home, she took me straight to the bathroom and gave me a BATH! I guess she doesn't like goose-poop perfume as much as I do! I'll put up with the bath as long as they let me go and play with those big birds again soon.

Seems to me the only reason to even go see birds is to chase them and then roll in bird poo.. what a waste!!

Daddy kept reminding me dat dose birds were bigger than I was. Didn't stop me from wanting to try to get to them, though.

I still laugh when I think of Schatzi wanting to go and roll in the mud and poop, especially after the birds had taken off. They had the sprinklers going so the ground was wet. That really got the smell going and her nose was just a wiggling. Little Miss "I can't let water touch my feet ever" suddenly didn't mind how much water she was walking through. She had a mission. Randy was amazed at how much mud she had gotten on her belly. I told him when your belly is only a few inches from the ground, it doesn't take but one mud puddle to get it muddy!

Geese are tough customers, and they'd easily stand up to a dachshund.   I remember walking  Rudy-angel and Max-angel along the C&O Canal when Rudy got a bit too close to a brood of goslings.   Mama goose spread her wings and began flapping them.   It totally freaked Rudy out...one of the few times he actually backed down from another animal.

At the landscape company that I used to work at, they had a goose on the property that ruled the roost.   Even pit-bulls did not want to mess with it.

Lucky dawg! Hallie's favorite part of the goose is the poop too. Great pictures Teresa I love the stance she has on the second one there, she is in duck huntin' mode!

Thanks Dee Dee. Randy was laughing since I was getting on the ground to get pictures and there was goose poop on the ground. He looked at me and said "Sooo, where exactly is your knee right now?" Anything for the picture, I guess!
