Okay, Sarge and Duggie (especially Duggie) truly believe in their doxie minds that should they step one foot in the rain, they will melt! Today we are having a downpour of rain and it's not coming down lightly....I made the two of them go out to go potty when they woke up. Sarge tucked his tail tightly but he did go down off the deck and do his business then came running right back to come in. Duggie would not leave their ramp (which is covered), he stood there and watched Sarge and when he saw Sarge coming back, turned around and headed for the door. Now, remember that I am standing out in the rain telling them to go potty.......in they come.....one went, one didn't. So, I am watching Duggie closely to make sure he doesn't go potty in the house.......THEN we hear the mowers at the schoolyard! Both boys are on the chair looking out the window, barking their heads off. I ask if they want to go out.....neither move from the window.......until the monster mower goes by......THEN it's off to the races and the backdoor........we must go out and chase the monster mowers! Rain forgotten by Duggie who is too busy defending his training grounds and almost forgotten by Sarge but not quite, they chase the mowers! Duggie stays out in the rain barking and running even if the mower is on the other side......Sarge, on the other hand, does go out and bark at the mowers when they are on his side of the school yard, but when they are on the other side, he would stand in the gazebo where it was dry. They guys stopped and said their hellos, then off they went. I am happy to report that both boys did their business and in the house they came!
Neither of them melted in the rain, I am happy to report. They both were provided with a towel to which they were massaged dry and then given a bully stick as a treat. They are now both snoring away and napping.

When Dolly was with us, she was particularly allergic to the "poison drops" but all was forgotten if there was a critter in HER yard....LOL.

I've learned the only way to get mine to go potty in the rain is for me to CARRY them to the furthest point in the yard and put them down there. I get soaked in the process, but at least they figure "while I'm out here..." and do their bizness. This post makes me wish WE had monster mowers!
LOL!! That creates quite a visual! Good boys they know where their priorities lie. :grin: Now all you have to do all winter is be sure the monster mower guy comes along 3 times a day so the boys will be able to go out and go potty.... :thumb:
