Title: Sorry I've been MIA
Post by: Kari on August 10, 2009, 11:23:13 PM
Hi All!!

Sorry I've been MIA lately... In June we found out that the company I have worked for for 8 years was being sold and that the San Diego office is being closed on 12/1. The sale is official tomorrow and then all chaos breaks loose (even more than it already has). In order to get the severance package they are offering we have to stay and work through the transition until 12/1. Normally this wouldn't be a problem (especially since having a paycheck until 12/1 will be good) but the people that work for the new company are awful!! I mean so unprofessional and rude! You can't even imagine. It is going to be a long 3 1/2 months...working long hours! I'm still around if you need me ( so is Drew) I just might not be able to post very often but am always available on email.

On a happy note, Drew is going to Europe at the end of September for work so I'll be going with him and we'll do some traveling after he is done. We've never been before so we are really excited...if not a bit nervous...lol! I'm sure it will be an adventure! At least it will break up my last couple of months at work !

I'm sorry to hear of your pending job loss.  Something to keep in the back of your mind is they might be rude and mean in order to get people to leave and thus avoid paying the severence package.  Take the high road and thus take home the money...

I'm so sorry to hear this news, Kari. I agree, with Mike's insight. It would make a lot of sense. I think the trip to Europe could not come at a better time. By the time you get to leave for the trip, you will be more than ready for a break! When you get back, you will almost be through working with these people. I hope the time passes quickly for you.

You guys are so right! I'm not going to let them get the best of me and win!

So far no other job lined up...really hard since I need to wait it out until 12/1. I'll probably take a break in December and then get back to it in January!

We are going to be in Brussles for the first week while Drew is working. Then we will head to Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Fussen, Luzern, Paris and then London. It will be a whirlwind trip and we are trying to fit a lot into a short time frame. It will be an experience for sure!!
