Usually,(for years) I've always kept whole, uncut watermelon on the kitchen floor until ready to use it. I guess I won't be doing that anymore. He says he just wanted a taste. Yeah, right! I guess I'll have to find a better place to keep new melons now. AND, when I did cut off the chewed up chunk and start the melon, I gave each pupper a piece, and for the first time, Sophie ate hers after watching Sam gobble his down! Here's the villian, and here's the crime:
LOL
never trust a doxie when it comes to food
LOL
LOL LOL!! I was on the floor with that one. What did he do with the rind, did he eat that too or did he spit it out? I can just see Sophie going GADS brother, I really don't want to eat this stuff but now I have to because you might get it. LOL!!! Sam sure is a beauty, unusual color very striking.
That is too awesome. Best dog snack EVAR! :apls:
I sure would say Sam Loves Watermelon...... Sam = 1 Watermelon= 0
Yes, DeeDee, he ate the rind and suffered no ill effects. He'll eat anything.
I have a theory Dachshunds are hounds so most were brought up on house scraps, oatmeal and such,Bouvier's were farm dogs cast iron stomachs like Dachshunds eat anything that does not eat them first.Dobermans most do not have cast iron stomachs mater of fact they are considered goats.Allot of Dobermans die from eating socks everything and anything you have to watch them like hawks very prone to bloat.Your Farm dogs and you hunting dog most can pretty much eat anything.Of course I may be wrong just seems like Patches eats everything and anything if she can sneak it even a road killed frog?yuck she dropped it when I asked her.She is the one that eats crickets, june bugs, even trys live frogs.Buddy does not eat and of the little critters, one is enough to keep up with. Papbouv
LOL that is too funny Rich. You gotta love the teeth scratch marks along the sides of the eaten parts. Can you just see him as he was doing this makes you wonder what Sophie was doing/thinking at the time.
That is interesting Papbouv. Pit Bulls have pretty bomb proof stomachs too according to my friend who has them. I think I've been unlucky with my doxies the three I've had in my life have loved to eat but all had touchy tummies especially Hallie. I'd never want a breed that tends to bloat again went thru that with my sweet Dane Fred it was horrific.
Finnegan will eat anything and everything, and it doesnt ever seem to hurt his tummy.. He doesnt have funny poops or anything! He love cucumber and potato peels. And baby carrots are probably his favorite play thing, he throws it around and plays catch with himself. Then settles down and crunches away.
How could you be angry at that face.....................and at least the inside of the melon is fairly low in calories.

:chairfall: Dis is Porky Pie and I say good for SAM! Dat stuff is soooo yummy. My mama sez she needed dis laugh and fanks so much!! Pwus, I'm wishin I was dere, I woulda helped.
What a hoot !!!! Good job Sam !! :2funny:
I love it! Sam looks like "Mr. Innocent".....but where did my Watermelon go????? Go, Sam! After all, the 30 second rule went by the wayside.......so, the watermelon was fair eats for Sam!
I came home today and first thing my boyfriend says is "Are potatoes good for dogs?"
This is why.
I thought it was pretty funny after this Watermelon post.
:2funny: My husband and I howled at both of these pictures!
Oh, that is hilarious!! You can see the toenail marks on it too! I would think that potato would be OK for a dachsie, with the only negative effect being a tendency to constipate? I would have thought that the watermelon would have had the opposite effect on Sam, but luckily, it did not. Thank you for a great laugh!
:meme: Remember what I always say:
When your breed is called "wiener dog" and your nickname is "Schnitzel" you gotta promote a vegetarian lifestyle!
