what do you see post annual vaccination. Amy had hers on Fri I as usual get a anti infamatory given. for the last 2 years they have been getting the C5 then the C2 on the alterate year, but the vets here will not do it. So she had a the C7 she is a bit slow, eating well, sleeping, nose wet, but not her ususal bubbly self. I don't like it when Sweet Pea is not herself, her back seems good and I have not walked her since the injection.

I don't do the annual any more. Mine are like livewires after about 6 hours - a little sluggish after the shot. I have not had a dachsie get more than one shot at a time for years. My Heidi-Angel reacted so badly to her 2nd rabies shot that I was freaking out. She swelled up in what looked like under the skin bubbles all over - and you know how we get - I thought she was going to explode before I got her to the emergency vet. She got a shot of benadryl and was fine - but from that moment on, I made sure at least a week went by before the rabies. In an economy move, I began getting the 3-year rabies shot (so I could get a three-year dog licence), and after her second one of those - and more benadryl, the vet wrote a letter to the city dog licensing bureau that she was allergic to the preservatives in rabies shots, so she was renewed a year at a time. Now they have 3-year Distemper, H(?), Leptospirosis, Parvovirus, P(?) shots, and I am getting those, and then the rabies 3-year shot the following year, and I get one year off with nothing but their physicals.
Roberta, my two get annuals. The only thing I have ever noticed is tiredness the night of the shots along with a hot dry nose. Usually they perk up the next day. Many rays on their way to Amy....sure hope she feeling her old self really really soon
Mine usually sleep most of the day. Other than that no problems.

I've never seen any reaction other than a lump usually forms at the injection site with the rabies (on both Hallie and Jessie). Hallie didn't get a lump this last time for the first time though.
What is the C2, C5 and C7?
Rest and feel better Miss Amy you know how worried your Mom gets about you and so do we! Let us know how she does Roberta I'm sure she'll bounce right back.
I think the C5 is Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Kennel Cough, Bordetella. Kennel Cough and Bordetella and C2 is two other things we don't do rabies here. I started the antihistamine as Oliver has always reacted, the sluggish irritated for the first night as Cheryl says, so just get it done automatically. I'm giving her another day of metacalm just in case its hershoulder or back, but I've done the leggy checks and she is OK, it may be a over protective mum. Roberta
We give Ozzy Benadryl before he gets his Distemper. He's a little sleepy for a while, but bounces back quickly.
Porky just is real sleepy the rest of the day and then is back to himself the next day.
