This was a new one for me:
Since the Zs dental, I have been far more conscientious about brushing their teeth. On average, I'm brushing every other day. The Zs aren't particular fans of getting their teeth brushed, but they go along. Zora tends to have a much stronger dislike for it than Zeke (even though her teeth and gums are typically in better shape).
I've seen female dachshunds turn their back on something they dislike, whether it's another dog or a hooman, etc. It's the "If I don't see you, you no longer exist". Zora put a new twist on this tonight. I called her to come to me. She knew she was getting her teeth brushed as Zeke just exited the bathroom. She held up right at the threshhold of the bathroom. As I called her in, Zora squeezed her eyes shut!...and continued to do so. It was the "If I don't see you, you can't see me" logic. or "I don't want to do this, but I don't want to disrespect my master either".
I thought it was hilarious and pointed it out to Margie. Still, it didn't alter the final result. Zora still got her teeth brushed. The C household is not a democracy, and the Zs have to abide by our edicts, even if they are acting cute.
If I'm going to brush Patches teeth, brush her out, do her toes.or anything she runs and gets on Daddy's lap since Daddy's home all the time now. He does not protect her she just has not figured that one out yet.The other night I patted the ottoman she was in Daddy's recliner about 2-3 feet away she jumped from the recliner to the ottoman. Nothing like giving Mom a heart attack the little brat that is the 2nd time she has done that to me.Patches Mom
LOL! I can just picture Zora!! :2funny:
Keep trying honey - maybe next time you WILL be invisible !!!!
Rudy does the same thing when the dremel or toothbrush comes out. He gets in one of the dog beds and slouches down real low !!
Aw thats so cute!
Kind of reminds me of something Max P. does when it is crate time. He will lay in his bed and pretend he is sleeping and pretend he doesn't hear me calling them to get in the crates. He will lay there with his eyes closed and I will stand over him. He peeks at me and quickly closes his eyes again. It is like he is saying, I am sleeping and I don't hear or see you....go away and leave me be. They are too funny with the stuff they do!
I can just picture this.......If I squeeze my eyes really tight, I'll be safe from the teeth brushing!
That is too funny! LOL. Smart girl really. I have never seen a dog do that, too bad you didn't have the camera handy.
Zora will squint at the camera because she knows the flash is coming...it looks like the same thing. We may have to "re-enact" the incident to get a piccy.
LOL you really should! They are just so smart sometimes. Amazing how human they can be.
