Title: "meetup" website
Post by: lunakat78 on July 14, 2009, 10:31:54 AM
I was searching the web to see if there was a dachshund meet-up group in my area and noted there are lots of people who are interested but no official group through the meet-up website. Was thinking of starting one in my area, anyone had any experience with the meet-up groups?

If you build it...they will come.  This website is as good of a place to start as any.

We've hosted a number of dachshund meet ups in the past (called Bow Wows) and attended a couple of others.   Our most successful one had a total of 15 dachshunds in our backyard.   All the little guys couldn't figure out what to do with themselves.   It was like watching goldfish and they tried to form "packs", but then one or two would go and circulate into a pack.

The object is to keep it fun.   We did things like "Longest dachshund",  "Largest ear-span" (won hands down by Zeke).   "Fastest Nose" (who could sniff out the treat in the proper hand), and of course "weiner bobbing".   You cut up a hot dog, put the pieces in a shallow tray and let the dachshunds go for them.   Some of them figure it out, some blow bubbles with their noses in the water...some don't want anything to do with it.

We belong to the SLO Dachshund Meetup.  We meet on the first Sunday of every month and we have a GRAND time.  Usually we meet at the local city park and most of the time, we have at least 30 weenie dogs with their people.  Here's are website if you want to check it out.  I'm Sandi and I belong to Maddie and Bonnie.....oh and hubby Mark.

Thats SO cute! The closest Meetup to me is Vancouver and i work and so does my boyfriend so it would be difficult for us to have to go over for one day. Maybe ill start a Vancouver Island meet up.

Apparently there are tons of Dashies here.

Like trying to drown us during dinner is SMART??  Which end of the leash do you hoomans belong on???  HMMMM?????!!!?????
AHEM . . .

Your participle is dangling.  The correct sentence is "On which end of the leash do you hoomans belong?"

YOUR participle is dangling, Beau!  Put a sock in it!

REALLY, MERLIN, HOW RUDE!
