Post by: Leslie on July 07, 2009, 06:32:47 AM
Hello others!  I know we have a lot of old timers here on the board and a buncha new friends, soooooo... how often to you check the board?  I think I must peek in at least once a day  -- since 2001 when we got Zuzu. We're so happy to count you among our friends.

I think I've been here since 2003 or 2004 and I at least look 2-3 times a day if not more! I am so glad my friend Sue Shumard that I adopted Blusky&Manny from help me find it.After I adopted the boys I e-mailed her a messege and in messege I asked if there was a place I could talk to other "DACHSHIE" people! I realize this is July but at Christmas time I get excited to send out Cards to people on here!  :thumb:

We've been here since 2005.  A month after bringing Porky Pie home.  We like to check at least once a day, but life keeps us checking only every few days now.   I think I found it listed in a book I got about dachshunds.  Since Porky is my first I had lots of questions about the breed and lots of stories about his crazy antics.

I joined back in 2000 - just after I lost my Sparky-Angel.  I can't even remember how I found the original board, but I'm sure glad I did!

I drifted away from checking in regularly for an embarrassing amount of time but I do try and check in every day now, at least when my schedule allows.  I really miss the goings-on here if I don't!

I check every day....I joined in October of 2006, two months after Zoe had her back surgery.  At that time I was constantly on Dodgers List (which I still check) and I found it becoming depressing with all the babies who had back problems.  I wanted to find a board that I could talk to other doxie owners about all the fun things with their babies.  I am so very glad I found WW

Ahem!  Leslie - that's returning posters...
Anyhow, I began on the Dachshund Circus board back in January 2000, because I posted on the guestbook (is that still there?  I couldn't find it whilst searching this morning!), saying as far as I knew, dachsies were the only dogs, and Patty invited me to get on the board, and into chat.  The rest is history.  I have had 6 of my 7 dachsies while here and posting, and soon to be numbers 8 and 9 on board.
Unless I don't have Internet access, I check the board at least 3-4 times a day.

I've been on the board since Angel Emma was about two which would make it early 90's then it was 1-2 times a day now I'm home I look in 3-4. And what a great lot of people, I wonder if any other board has the longivity of this.

We started posting in September 1998 with Rudy, Max and Rusty.   I still check the board about twice per day.   Sometimes more often if there is drama unfolding.

Can't remember when I got on, but I get on and look everyday.  I don't post much but I get on and read and look at any pictures that are posted I love looking at pictures.  I belong to a grief board since I have lost my son so I am consumed with that, but I love this board also and all the puppers.  I love to hear about them and see them it makes my heart happy.  I think you need to make a section for pictures a sep sub board you know easier to have one just for pictures instead of in the general area.  Just a suggestion.

I also check every day.  I found the board when I was working with Sammy's foster dad on his adoption.  JetEd emailed me a link to look at Sammy and Wilson's Star of the Day pages.  Then I started looking at other things on the site.  My friends and family are certainly tired of hearing my endless dog stories, so I really enjoy this board where no one gets tired of talking about their dogs.

I started on here the day after we brought Schatzi home. That would have been  January, 2004. I usually check in a couple of times a day if I'm working, and more if I'm at home around the computer. I feel as if I have so many friends here and it is not unusual for me to refer to someone on here as "my friend from the dachshund board". I may get some strange looks, but that's okay. You have to be on here to really understand what it is like to be brought together by these four-legged long dogs.

I first signed on in November 2001.  I generally check for postings twice a day.  I found the old dachshund circus link while searching for info on GOOD dog food.  This was 9 months after Clifford's 1st back surgery.  I think DeeDee had had a bowwow a couple months earlier and some drama occurred that resulted in someone leaving the Board.  Over the years we've laughed together and shed tears as we loose loved members.  I've been fortunate enough to meet Rich and Deb (Stormy-Angel and Sophie), Clarese (Conrad and Finious), Kelly (Manny and Bluski), Sue Shumard and a cast of thousands, Julia (Siglen-Angel who was so like Clifford in personality, Brekke as a rambunctious puppy, and forgive me Julia, my mind is drawing a blank on the 3rd whose face I can see, just not her name), Sandy and Mark (Madison and Dolly), and Suzie and Mark (Milo, Bean and Newtie).

I almost forgot the picnic when Noel and Scooter met and rode off into the sunset.

Mike - you also got to meet the gentle Gretl, who had had back surgery in 1999.  She had a little hitch in her getalong when she ran...

I remembered Gretl's name at 2 am.  Maybe I'm getting canine dementia....

The year was 2001 for us...as Mike said, we shared laughter and tears over the years.  In 2004, we attended a BowWow at DD's and Hallie BB's house.  We got to meet Delia and Ron, Gretchen and Ilsa-Angel, Bruce and Chrissie along with Dauber and Cody, Jill along with Simon and Reka, and Kathy and Steve (Piddleman-Angel).  Dauber stole a full slice of pizza when no one was looking!  And while Ron was sitting in a lounge chair with Ilsa on his lap, Reka climbed up on him and sat on his head!  And, Princess Hallie managed to quietly sneak a treat but DD caught her with it....and Cody, boy-howdy could he sing.....he and Dave had a duet going!  Sarge just took it all in and loved every minute with everyone!  And, Gretchen took to Dave on their first meeting and let him hold her!   Then last September, DD, Delia, Hallie and Ilsa-Angel stopped and visited with us (actually they spent the night in our area) on their way to Montana for DD's wildlife picture shoot.   Being retired, I check the board several times a day.

Aww...all this talk of the BowWows is making me all nostalgic!  Those were good times, weren't they?  I didn't have Scooter yet when I attended, so for me it was a bonus to be able to surround myself with all sorts of puppers I could play with and love on, even as I keenly felt the abscence of a Dachshund in my own life.  And naturally, it was wonderful to meet all the nice humans as well.

For everyone who doesn't understand that there are good and decent people you can meet via the Internet, I'd proudly point them to the friends I've made here.

Been here since 2001, a few months after we got Rudy.  I was not into surfing the net until I got the brainstorm one day to google dachshunds.....  'twas the beginning !!!!  Found all kinds of info on dachshunds and found the original message board. WOW, what a find !!!  I look in at least once a day, and hopefully again at night.  Work tends to get in the way of surfing as much as I would like to during the day  :dontknow:

I must say I only get on here two to three times a week.  I think for me finding the board (old one) was sometime around 1999 or 2000.  I attended the bow-wow at Dee's and got to meet a lot of great people, like Noel, Patty, Delia, Adela and Jill, and of course Dee - just to name a few.  I have also been lucky enough to have met Sandi (before the bow-wow), Julia, Barb and Clarese.  I know there are probably some I am forgetting.  I also hosted a Texas bow-wow some time in 2001 or 2002.  Noel spent some time with us (of course it was only Lily and Max) and she is Max's favorite ball thower.  Max is also crazy about Julia's Brekke.  He went absolutely moony over her.  I also attended a get together hosted by Delia when Julia was taking baby Mocha back to California.  I have met some truly wonderful people here.  And of course some great doxies that own some of those people.  I wish I had more time to spend here.

Let's see, I've been thinking about this.  The Dachshund Circus and Wiener Writings was the first thing I ever found on the internet.  I had never been on the Net before so I just punched in "dachshund" and up came this wonderful site.  Of course, our board looked a lot different in those days, but it's here I found first and here I've stayed through thick 'n' thin.  Heck, I think I even was fired from a job because of my obsession coming here during working hours.  So, let's see.....I do believe I've been here since 1998 or there abouts.  It was Patty and DeeDee who really encouraged me to come on aboard.

Throughout the years, I've had a chance to meet a great many of you.  Some, but I'm sure, not all, have been:  Nikki, Patty, Delia & Ron, Adela & Mitch, Julia, Mike, Noel, Clarese, Denise, DeeDee, Maria, Eleanor, Al, Colin & Gail, Trish & Jill.  Noel, remember Mr. Puppy?  If I've missed one of your,, don't shoot me, just forgive me.

While work and then more work eats up a lot of my time, I still do check in at least once a day.  I"m still proud to be part of the greatest group on the Internet.

Sandi

LOL - I believe Noel first tried to abscond with Mr. Puppy, and then I think she was trying to pack Gretl at DD's 2001 Bowwow.

Nikki, your Bowwow was in May of 2003, and then Delia's was later in the summer, when she went with me to pick up Mocha for Brenda, and we discovered how wonderful Delia's Gretchen was with Mocha!  She absolutely was prepared to give stinky eye to anyone who wasn't careful and gentle with that puppy, and eyeballed everyone who held her.

Sheesh, that means I have only been to four Bowwows, and one was my own...

Aww!  Thank you, Max!      You'll always be my #1 Cute Puppy!

And let me tell you, I've almost never laughed as hard in my life as watching Max go all DACHSHUND FURY DESTROY on those big styrofoam blocks.  So.  Very.  Cool.

I'd actually love to come and visit again, someday!

Noel, remember Mr. Puppy?

Yes, it did, and yes, I definitely do.  Oh, how I adored Mr. Puppy!

p.s.  I 100% agree with your assessment that this board is made up of the best folks on the 'Net.

*gasps and clutches pearls*  It was all Mr. Puppy's idea!  *looks very innocent*  And I had no idea Gretl was in my suitcase!  In fact, I don't even remember a suitcase!  What suitcase?   What Bowwow?  Who's DD?  *straightens halo*

That was very funny.  I almost forgot about the destruction of the styfoam.  LOL!  And Noel, you are welcome, and the handsome Scooter too, to visit any time you want.  We can go back to Barnaby's for lunch and take the pups.  Well a couple of them anyway.  I think 5 would be pushing it.  Max still loves to play ball, just sometimes has trouble seeing it.

Anytime you and the handsome Scooter-man want to come for a visit is good with us.  Max and Lily say a definite yes to having Auntie Noel and Scooter visit and Gabbe and Minna are excited at the prospect of meeting the one and only Auntie Noel that they have heard so much about!
