Title: Another one bites the dust.
Post by: 4pacmom on July 02, 2009, 01:17:56 PM
Lily killed another young bird.  She found it in the corner of the fence and the house and got it before I knew what was happening.  She tried to take it in the house, but that was not happening.  Lucky for me, she will drop whatever is in her mouth when commanded, "Drop it".  She wasn't happy about it and I got her and Minna in the house and tried to keep Max and Gabbe from getting it.  She dropped it right by the back door.  I finally got Max and Gabbe inside and was able to dispose of the remains.  Now whenever Lily goes out the back door, she runs right to the spot where she found the bird.

Ya, ya, ya...and your point is what?

It's prey and I'm a hunter...Go Lily!

No sympathy from that side of the house!

We need Lily to come get out birdies.  They keep using our front door as their porta-potty.   :BangHead: :cussing:  I don't have the heart to scare them off, but if she did it for us I wouldn't feel so guilty.  They have themselves at home in our apartment on multiple occassions.   :2funny:

My Max always proud of himself whenever he brings dad squirrel or bird, he just seemed chasing them and not eating. Doxies are hunter dogs and always be their instinct.

Winston and Zelda here, two of Auntie Karen's Bunny Stalkers:

Birds are definitely a great target for dachshunds.  We bunnies can scream for help and we kick and fight back.  Of course, here at Auntie Karen's house the score is:

Ima Dora Belle - 2

Rabbits - 0

And since most of the brownish grey, outdoor "bunnies" are hares and are a different species, they're on their own.  Bunnies rarely survive on their own outside.

Bunnies rock!  (But we definitely don't rule!)

See, there is another kill taken from us dogs, we have to come up with a doggie law that what ever we kill we should be able to play with or eat it.
After all it's what life is all about, lets us keep it once in a while!! It's like we don't do it everyday...

Scooter,

I am glad that you are impressed with my hunting skills, because my mom is not!  She never lets me keep them to play with them or eat them.  Hrumph!!!

Dearest Lily,

I feel your pain!  My own mom didn't let me keep the big bird I killed either.  You'd think she'd have been more impressed!  I jumped right up and grabbed him out of the air and shook him good and then he was dead.  And I was very very proud of myself but she just took the bird and threw it away over the fence.  Brrrt---?  Is that any way to treat a gift?

It's okay, though.  Because just after she threw it away and laughed at my Uncles for being to squeamish to do it, a bee came flying onto the porch and chased them all away, waving their arms and screaming like little child girl-humans.  Heh.

xoxo,
Skootr

Lily here:

Skootr - I wish I could have seen them running from the bee!  He-he!  Humans are so silly some times!  Max and I think your mommy is very cool!  You should bring her to Texas for a visit!
