Title: Pics of Gretchen and Elli
Post by: Delia and girls on June 28, 2009, 06:18:47 AM
I've been absent for a while - crazy hours at work and a new pup have kept me busy. I think of you guys often. Rays to those who need them. Here are some new pictures of my girls. Thank goodness Gretchen has accepted Elli. I think sometimes she wishes she wasn't here, but on the whole I think she's enjoying her. I know she's making her younger (she turned 10 this month) - playing with her and playing with toys again. Truth be told, if Gretch and I could wave a magic wand and bring Ilsa back, we would, but we can't, so we're loving and enjoying Elli. Elli is now used to us. Since she was 8 month old when we got her, she missed her first mom. She now acts like this is her home and we're her family. She's a good puppy and, well ... IMHO a very cute little girl. She LOVES toys and go-fer-rides.

Hi Delia!  Great pics of the girls.....Gretchen has the look that Sarge has sometimes when Duggie lays next to him.  In the second pic, it looks like Elli is glancing behind her......"is that doggie following me?"

Delia, these are wonderful pictures of the girls....I saw the last one too....I just love how they are getting along.  I wish I had some windows that went all the way to the floor for my crew.  What a wonderful set-up.  Gretchen is so pretty and Elli is a doll

Dee, now that you mention it, I've seen that look on Sarge's face in some of the pictures you've posted. LOL!

Cheryl, thanks. I was a little worried about how Gretchen would take to Elli. She can be a bit of a grouch. But I think she missed the canine companionship she had with Ilsa. Gretch was only 5 months older that Ilsa so I'm sure she doesn't remember life without her. Like I said, Elli is doing a fantastic job of filling that 'Ilsa void' for both of us.

And the windows ... they spend a lot of time in those windows - especially Gretchen.

Oh my goodness.  I was so confused when I saw this thread and I had to go look in the Rainbow Bridge section to figure out what happened.  I was so wrapped up in my own situation, I missed yours entirely.  I am so sorry for the loss of Ilsa.  She truly was a beautiful girl.  And on the other hand, I'm happy that you got another beauty in Elli.

It's nice to see that Gretchen is letting her cuddle up.

Yes she looks very much at home now............glad Grech is letting her in, by the look of the first photo I'd say just. She is like Amy as long as I'm comfy. They both have shiney coats.

That's right, Kathleen, this happened while you were moving. Ilsa went fast. She was diagnosed with lymphoma in Jan and we lost her in March. My life will never be the same without her. But ... life must go on. I was crying my eyes out almost every day. I had made my mind up that Gretch would be an only child so I would only have to do this one more time. After a couple months of wondering if I would ever be "normal" again, I decided to get Elli. I love Gretchen dearly but she has temperament issues (as those that have met her can attest to) that make it impossible for her to do the things Ilsa did, i.e., therapy work and going to the mall. Soooo, as my vet said when he did Elli's well puppy exam, she has some big shoes to fill. I think she can do it.

Hah.  I only have one that I enjoy taking out in public-Winston.  He's generally mellow and friendly.  The others...not so much.  Millie and Murphy are shy enough that it's a trial (except at dog shows-she's a totally different dog at the shows-it's odd).  Reilly just barks at everything in sight, and nobody enjoys that.

Good luck with Elli-she's a doll-baby.
