Here are the pics of the doxie sidewalk and the addition of a patio which starts at the end of the deck. We've added a gazebo on the far end (we are still working on that--bolting it into the patio). We plan to add a small area of grass to the right of the patio/gazebo just to the other side of the shed and then beyond that is the garden which has now been planted (with corn, potatoes, red and green peppers, bush green beans, zuchinni, tomatoes and peas).

The bobcat heading to the area to clear the dirt. Definitely a tight fit between the shed and peach tree! We have removal fence panels between our place and the neighbors--we both benefit from that!

Whew, made it around the corners and hard at work!

The view from the deck. This was just after the pad was poured and smoothed. The lawn swing has since been moved to the pad, where it originally was at.

The boys' yard......more to follow in additional post!
And a few more....

The boys' enjoying their new walk and watching for the monster mower! The dirt at the end of the walk still needs to be removed so we are still a work in progress.

The monster mower has arrived!

The Gazebo....
We have the outdoor table and chairs in the gazebo......Dave and the furkids really enjoy the gazebo. There are also shelves in each corner of the gazebo plus netting all the way around. I'm still decorating the inside of it. I plan to add lights to it. And, most importantly, the boys have their own blankies for the gazebo.

Wow Dee! What an amazing transformation to your already beautiful yard! Love the doxie racing strip! This all looks like it will be easy to mow and not so much weed eating especailly against the fence. I have been trying to think of a way to not have to weedeat along the fence (it gouges into the wood fence so bad) and wondered if it would be possible to put in a concrete strip like that, now I see it can be done! I love that gazebo too, can you leave it up in the winter or do you have to take it down? I was considering getting one for Hallie so in the winter she could go in there to go potty (on the grass) her potty house now is too confined and she doesnt' like going in there but I thought something big like this would keep her dry?
Is that first shot standing with the deck behind you where we took the pictures of Sarge and Duggie? Trying to get my bearings. Love the tree left in the middle too. Everything looks fantastic great job at planning this! I'll bet the boys are very happy too! :thumb:
Hey Auntie Dee.... Dis is Beatrice Sanders. Mama and Daddy got da same gazebo for me and Buelah an Oscy an Bella dat you gots for Sargie and Duggie! We gots blankies to... and a water bowl out der dat I like to knock over. I REALLY like dat walk way where da boys can chase da Monster Mower Men! I bet dats lots of fun!
Mama wants to know if you gots da Big Lots stores in Green Acres? She says dat dey gots a lot of really fun outdoor lights. We gots lights dat are LIZARDS! We also got lights dat are LOBSTERS fer Retta at da BIG LOTS. Retta LUBS da LOBSTERS!

Hi DeeDee & Hallie.......It is really easy to mow...we had already had cement curbing around the yard so the sidewalk is butted (sp?) along side the curbing and to the fence line. We did put up the decorative fence (low) along the fence because of the gap when they dug down to lay the cement -- deters the boys' to try and dig out and keeps the rabbit out of the yard as well. No need to weedeat along the fence on our side...the school does the other side and one of the guys stopped by the other day and said that they would make sure that the other side of the fence is kept clean. They have gotten to know us through the mower guys and are really amenable to keeping their side clean for us. Guess all those cookies and cinnamon rolls have paid off!! For us, with all the snow, I will take the cover off because of the weight of the snow. But, I would think in your area, it could most likely be left up year round. The sides of the gazebo is netting but you could hang up plastic to keep it dry for Hallie. I wish I could leave the cover up but that's a dream with all the snow that we normally get.
The first picture of the poured patio was taken from the deck....so yes, from where you took the pictures of Sarge and Duggie. The tree in the middle of the patio is the Weeping Cherry tree (which was suppose to be a minature....ha!). It is a beautiful tree, though, especially in the spring when the flowers go from pink to white!. Behind the shed, in the garden area is the Crab Apple tree. The peach tree is to the right of the shed (which is where the bobcat picture is seen heading around the shed). And, in the middle of the backyard are three Red Leaf Maple trees (which are now taller than the house!).
The boys love what has been done with their yard! It's still a work in progress....still have some sod to lay, etc. Will have to post pictures when all is complete. I also plan to put the decorative fence along the fenceline in the garden area. Have the fence, just need to get it placed.

Hi Beatrice! Isn't it a cool gazebo?? The boys also have their water bowl there.....but they don't knock it over.....yet! They just love to lay out there with their blankies. They got a good work out on Wednesday from chasing the monster mower and they also visited with the guy. He said he was gonna bring his wife over to meet the two famous doxies who live in Greenacres! The monster mower guy and the water guy (who takes care of watering the school yard) both think the boys have a cool and fun yard......even their own sidewalk to make chasing easier! We do have a Big Lots in Greenacres....I'll have to go there and check for lights! Thanks for the tip! I looked at a few places but didn't see any that I wanted.....I'll check Big Lots!
Hugs to you all! Auntie Dee
Wow Dee and Dave....your back yard is absolutely gorgeous!!! What a wonderful job and I love the gazebo. The boys are so lucky to have their own sidewalk to run on. I bet you will never have to trim their toenails again!!!
Wow - very nice! I am sure the boys think it was all done just for them, too! I really like your gazebo. I am wondering about the little lanterns that seem to be hung about a foot or so from the ground on your tree's trunks - so you can see if the boys are taking care of business? They are really cute!
Dang - can I come live in your Gazebo? Gorgeous !!!!!! The boys should keep their toenails worn down some from running on the walk by their fence !!! Your yard is just beautiful !
Really great yard for doxies and humans!! Love the gazebo!
It looks great Dee, and the boys will not have to get toenail chops as the cement will keep them short. Love the gazebo if we put one in it would be a few miles away on the first windy day..............
Hope your summer and autumn are good so you can enjoy it, have a sip of wine for me.

ps from da gang ... we gotta one of those earth movie things the other week but they only left us gravel which we are not fond of, but mum says she is going to get us a bit of artafical turf just outside the back door.....
Schatzi would think I was being so cruel if I put in a sidewalk for her! She hates to walk on sidewalks or asphalt! We have been going to a track at middle school nearby to walk and Schatzi only wants to walk on the ground beside the track, not the track itself. This is usually the cooler part of the day, so it isn't hot on her feet or anything. Randy says she is spoiled and only has her grass in the backyard and has tender toes! Even when we walk in the neighborhood, she wants to be off the road. However, this is the same dog that, if it is wet, will walk on the road because she doesn't want to get her feet or belly wet so she pees and poops in the middle of the road (and tries to find the driest part of it). I think she has some issues. Maybe she should see Dr. Beau Leakey, our psychiatrist in residence!
I do love the gazebo. We've been thinking about putting one up in our backyard, but need to come up with a plan for what else we want to do first. My co-worker's son is a landscape architect student and has promised to draw up some plans for me. I told him he had to make it affordable!
All I can say is WOWIE!!!! AWESOME!!! Looks really beautiful and functional for the boys. Can't wait to see the finished product. Great Job. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Wow you have such a beautiful yard!
