Title: Rays for My Lily, Please!
Post by: 4pacmom on June 04, 2009, 03:06:56 PM
When I got home from work yesterday, Lily was moving very slowly and then later was panting and shaking.  We made the trip to the emergency vet and the back was not really bad, but she is on pain killers, anti-inflammartories and muscle relaxers and crate rest for a month in the hopes that this will take care of the problem.  I talked to mom today and she said Lily was resting comfortably.  If you can spare some well wishes and rays for my baby, we would appreciate it.  Thanks!!

Oh no not another one. It is necessary but just breaks your heart to have to crate them for so long when they don't understand. At least no surgery is needed that is good! Please keep us posted on your little girl, give her a kiss on top of her head for us and try not to stress too much...

First off, thanks to everyone for the well wishes, prayers and rays.  She seems to be doing better and now the hard part, because she is feeling better, is keeping her still.  When I am not home, she is crated, and when I am home, I keep her in the chair right beside me.  She wants to get down and run around with her pack.  I carry her outside to potty and she tries to run off and I have to chase after her and keep her from running around.  I know that I look and sound like a lunatic!  LOL!  She will be 8 years old on July 10th.  My mom is staying with me and checks on her but she still stays crated.  Again, thanks to everyone!  It is great having support from others that truely understand!

Yeah, for the good news!!  You might want to consider getting a Hug-A-Dox harness for when she goes outside.  You can then hook a lead to it and curtail the crazy lady routine.

Thats encouraging news !!!  Agree with Mike - have her wear a harness, and then just clip on when she can be on the move ! Keep us posted !

Yeah, that is a good suggestion.  I was kind of taken by suprise, because she has just been taking a couple of steps and doing her business and then waiting for me to pick her up and this morning, she just trotted off.

I learned that harness lesson the hard way too. They can be FAST. I dont' know if you have one but I also have put up an ex pen right outside the gate I didn't let her loose in it just had it blocking the way so she knew she couldn't take off if she had to but had just enough room to go potty (I also had the harness on her).

How is Lily feeling now Nikki?

Great to hear, but go slow we've just come through similar recently. We have a foldable garden edging fence we put round her bed so she could see us and when we went outside we placed her on a mat in it.

Lily is still improving and not liking the fact that I won't let her run like a crazy girl.  I appreciate everyone's concern and well wishes.
