Title: Horsin' Around
Post by: David C. on May 27, 2009, 08:36:57 PM
One of the things about the Zs which is so endearing is that they like to play...a lot.  Even though both are now middle aged dachshunds, play is still a big part of their lives.  So, when Jessica and I start roughhousing, the two of them immediately want to join in on our wrestling match.   When Jessica plays "Horsie" with Daddy, it's tough because the Zs throw themselves right in front of me.   Zora will get directly in my path and roll over onto her back.   Now, how am I supposed to be on all fours with Jessica on my back AND rub her belly?  Zeke will get down into his "play" stance and continue to back up and reset himself each time I get closer.

I just think it's funny how they are clearly picking up on our play, and as pack members, they want to be part of the play.

:headbang: YO, BIKER BOY . . . WHAT'S WRONG WITH USING YOUR FACE TO RUB THAT BELLY, HMMMM??????

Haha good idea. Us here it is better to wrestle and play with our dogs than they wander around and roll themselves on stinky things.

Doesn't quite work well.   If I lean down to rub face on belly, hooman female on back will fall off.   40+ pound hooman female will squash a 13 pound dachsie female...not a good end result.

I will admit, I am not above giving the Zs zerberts on their bellies.   Neither one likes it much...for that matter, I don't think I've had any dachshie that likes it.   When I did them to Max-angel, I used to call it playing the "maxophone".

Aw, that's adorable!

I tried zerberting Scooter's belly once.  He peed on my ear.  (Scooter: I HATE ZERBERTS )

It is!  I love the way they are clearly happy members of a big, loving family!

That has to be one of the funniest things that I have ever read on the board.  I gave Minna one on her belly and Lily, I swear, was laughing!

Fin LOVES Zerberts!! It makes him so hyper, he races around and leaps everywhere then comes back and flips right on his back.

Drew and I both give Penny Zerberts  Sometimes she just lays there and does nothing and other times it gets her super hyper!

Heh.  David and 4pacmom, I find it much funnier now than I did when it was happening...although, truthfully, it only took me a few seconds to get over the surprise and laugh at myself.  I guess I got what I deserved.  (Scooter: DARN TOOTIN')

kslb and Kari!  How adorable that your pups love their zerberts or at least endure them with grace!  I love it when our babies get all hyper-pants and go tearing around the house at top speed.  It always makes me laugh so hard...

...much like Lily laughs at her momma giving Zerberts to Minna...

Noel,

Max P. says to tell Scooter it isn't nice to pee in mommy's ear!  Also he says to tell you he still loves to play ball and we have pictures of you playing ball with him.  :)
