My late mother's 20-year-old c-a-t Hector is lying on my bed and is slowly slipping away. He spent the last week at the vet's where all bloodwork, urinalysis, and x-rays were completely normal (unheard of for a 20-year-old!), but he is just very, very, very old. So I am on hospice care here, singing Edelweiss to him, like my mom used to, and watching him breathe.
If you can, send him rays for a safe journey to the Ranbow Bridge, where my mom is waiting for him.

UPDATE: 27 MAY
Hector is being cremated and his ashes are being buried with my mom and dad at Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica, California.
My brother, Glenn, will be in charge of the internment. His girlfriend, Abby will provide the garden trowel, and be the lookout for cemetery personnel on the prowl. I assume they take a dim view of unauthorized tenants, so Hector's moving in will be hush, hush.
I hope they get pictures!

It's amazing that everything was normal in a 20-year old cat. I must say, though, he is making his trip to Rainbow Bridge in the best way possible. May he arrive there and have your mom greet him singing Edelweiss, just as you are on this side. I pray that he goes quickly and effortlessly to meet her.
Aw that made me tear up, you are so sweet for doing that for him!
You just may have a furry guardian angel after this.

How heartbreaking, I wish they had something we could have at home to help them...I"m so sorry you are going through this, I lost my last girl Sophie at 20 she also had good labs but like Hecgtor, she was just so very old. It's sure hard to lose them, you can bet Hector and your Mom will be very happy to see each other though and you know how grateful she has to be you took such good care of him.
How sad for you Karen. Sending rays to you and to Hector for a peaceful and quick trip. I know you've done all you can for him, and I know your mom will be happy to see him again.

Hector passed away quietly around 2:00 this afternoon. :angel4:
His ashes will be buried at Mom and Dad's grave (shhh, don't say anything to the cemetery personnel. What they don't know won't hurt them!).

Awww...we're sorry to hear about Hector. 20 years is an awfully good run, though.
Sorry to hear about Hector...I'm sure you're mom was at the bridge to meet him.
