:walk2: Hi, I am the mom to 2 dachsunds I rescued this year. Sassy is black and tan female smooth who is 1 yr old. and Wilbur is 2 yr old black and tan boy. They are a joy! Sassy rules the roost over poor wilbur though. Any ideas on how to get her to not be so hard on the little man? Wilburs mom

Welcome to our wonderful group of doxie lovers. You will have a lot of fun here and find that it gets addicting sometimes. When I come home from work, Randy knows that I will usually hit the computer first and just to come looking for me if he needs me for something. There is usually a laugh to be found somewhere on the board! My name is Teresa and I am owned by Schatzi who will be two in a few weeks. She is a smooth red mini and she rules our 5 year old English Bulldog, Molly, who we rescued last year. Because we have a tendency to let Schatzi rule in this case and Molly tolerates it so well, I can't help you too much with the advice. If you post your question below first topic (which I can't remember the name of right now) I'm sure someone will help you. We have several who have just rescued some doxies and have had or are having the same problem. Can't wait to hear more about your family. I'm Roberta and am owned by Emma b/t shorthair who is one of the senior cits of the board at 15 /2 yrs, Oliver a log haired mahogany red who is 5 and Amy a b/t long hair aged 4, we are the gang down under from Melbourne Australia where spring is just arriving.
As long as Wilbur is not bothered by being second, leave them be just when he is alone with you give him extra hugs. Emma in her younger days was a %$#@$%^ and Angus(angel now) put up her being first through the door etc, but he never seemed to mind.

I live in SW Missouri and I am owned by 4 year old, Tofu, blk/tan, double dapple and 2 year old Siggy, blk/tan. I also have granddog Bella and Hoover that are both blk/tan dapples that you will here about often. I am a member of Dachshund Rescue of North America and have fostered over 200 doxies since Nov 2000. Nice to meet you.
As for advice I somehow always end up with a lot more males than females and the females are always boss. So I am no help. Sorry! If you email me I can send you some articles from DRNA.
