I know it is a volatile time, and everyone is watching their pennies...... this little guy is special, he is just adorable and needs help having surgery. If you can help, you are special !!! His mom is Andrea, who lives in Mississippi, and she is the foster mom that helped to rescue my Toby.
Come on.... try to resist this face
Thank you in advance! :comfort:

Oh my god that makes me feel terrible! Does he need a home? Or just donations?
What a sweet little baby! I made a pledge. Can anyone else? Thank you Barb for posting this.
His face is totally irresistable!!! I can't afford to help out right now, but I'll pass the word on to everyone I know to see if maybe they can. I sure hope this sweet boy is able to get his surgery and have a great life afterwards.
Poor little guy. I hope that breeder was warned not to breed those 2 dogs again!
He has a home with Andrea.... just needing help to get that expensive surgery. Thanks !!!
Awesome you are :comfort:
That would be great to distribute - thanks !
Aww he's a sweetheart, poor guy. Sending vibes and crossing fingers for him.
I just checked and they have $300 pledged towards this baby's surgery. Only $250 more to go :apls: :apls:

Last time I checked - it was $330 !!! Awesome you are !!!
Hi! I just had to come and say thanks for all of your positive thoughts and donations. The total goal is 2500 bucks, but I had only started with 550 thinking it'd be a good start. Well start it did! We're up to 960 :apls: Still a ways to go, but I am just floored by the response.
As for Jethro's breeder, that won't be happening again. Sadly, Jethro's momma died shortly after getting into the rescue. Seems the vets treating her decided to spay her and treat heartworms on the same day, and her poor heart couldn't take it. She was rescued, and died shortly after dawn the first day out of the place that had her. We were all wrecked by that loss.
Jethro's siblings are doing well, his sister had a bout with mange, and his brother is OK, just a little slow on potty training.
Jethro is doing well today too, but that persistent rattle is there. His bark isn't like any dachshund bark I've ever heard thanks to the surgeries he's had already. He "ur ur urs" and "Urks" and at the end of his excuse for a howl, there's not any sound. He is beyond adorable, and I feel so lucky to have him. I never understood just how lucky I am until after one of many "puny" days, my vet remarked that had I NOT been the one to have Jethro, he wouldn't be here. I was quite humbled. Everyone I considered worth knowing would do the same things I did. Guess that's not as common as I'd thought. But the donations given towards Jethro's surgery have shown me that the people I know, and the people that they know DO make it more common than I thought, if that makes sense.

Thank you so much for posting this picture of Jethro....he is so sweet! I am so sorry to hear about his mommy....that is tragic. Thank goodness his siblings are doing well. God Bless you for rescuing Jethro. Hopefully you will receive many more donations towards his baby's surgery.

Cheryl - Jethro is such a love !!! When you hold him, he melts in to you and your heart just breaks to hear him wheezy all the time. I am so thrilled, and of course Andrea is too - that these funds have been raised - WOO HOO !!!

I put it on my facebook page.
He is so cute and I can't afford to donate but I hope he will be ok. Is there a vet maybe that would do the surgery for free or for a cheaper price. Maybe if you show them all you are trying to do and that you took him in and rescueded him maybe a vet might do that for you.???? Just a thought.
hugs and love laura and Romeo

Thanks for the well wishes. He will have to go to a specialist because the surgery is so delicate. The will have to do the MRI, to find out what exactly they will need to do. So 2 pretty expensive things...
Barb, thank you so much for posting this! I can only pledge a little cash right now, but I thought I'd also pass along a suggestion - has Jethro's mom looked into Care Credit? It was a godsend for me, helping pay for Scooter's surgeries this year...they totaled about $2100, which of course I didn't have. But it has allowed me to pay it off in monthly installments and I should be all finished this July. I truly don't know what I would've done without it! It might be a helpful idea for making up the difference between what we can collect and what the final cost would be.
Of course, it would be a beautiful thing if we could collect enough to just take care of Jethro's care completely...I have a blog and I'll be happy to post his story there and help out too!
Oh, I've looked into and maxed out the ol' Care Credit on my herd of hounds and assorted misfits. And my vet already gives me a larger than normal "multi pet" discount. He just doesn't have the equipment that's needed for Jethro's surgery, as Barb stated. Too delicate. So we have to be referred to the specialist in Metarrie LA (pardon the spelling, I'm not from the area, just a Navy transplant) and let them do their thing, and they won't even consider discounts just because he's a rescue.

Ahhh...I should have known that you'd know about Care Credit; but I thought it was worth a mention anyhow. I hadn't even heard of it until this year. Which, thankfully, I'd never needed it until now so I supposed it came at the perfect (albeit distressing) time...
Love and Kisses to sweet little Jethro!
Surgery is a medical technology consisting of a physical intervention on tissues. As a general rule, a procedure is considered surgical when it involves cutting of a patient's tissues or closure of a previously sustained wound. Other procedures that do not necessarily fall under this rubric, such as angioplasty or endoscopy, may be considered surgery if they involve common surgical procedure or settings.

Patty - sadly Jethro passed away, hours before Andrea was taking him to the hospital for his surgery. His story is in the Rainbow Bridge section. Hang on to your donation, myself and several others are working on a very large project that will honor Jethro's name and will have more details when more plans are definite !!!
Thanks Patty ! :comfort:
