Title: Hide's Spay
Post by: sollysmom on May 18, 2009, 02:31:21 PM
Hilde came through her spay today A-OK.  I get to take her home tonight after work along with some pain meds for her.  Boy am I glad that's over.  Now we concentrate on getting Miss Hilde feeling better quickly.   :apls: :apls: :apls:

Ohhh sweet baby girl...I didn't realize she was going in already! Prayers and rays from us for a full and speedy recovery too. Do you have any new photos of her?

Great.  Cajsa was crate trained and would actually sleep in her crate until she had her "big girl surgery" (aka spay) and her 'outie' made into an 'innie'.  Then her papa who had insisted that there be "no dogs in my bed" told me to let her sleep with us just in case she felt bad.  Of course she's been there ever since and had no problems at all with the whole thing.  Something to watch her for is for signs of discomfort.  Depending on when the pain meds were given they could wear off in the middle of the night.  That happened with Cajsa so we had to give her the next dose just after midnight.  She healed up beautifully and had no problems at all.

Hilde came home with a 50mg Tramadol pill cut into six pieces.  I gave her one yesterday evening and 1 this morning before I left for work.  She did eat a little food this morning I was glad to see.  So hopefully she won't be too uncomfortable today.  Here are some pics I took of Hilde last month.

She's a doll!  Everything is going well I assume?  The first night is the roughest in some ways so glad it has passed without incident!

Thanks to all for their care and concern for Hilde.  She is so much better now.  Almost like her old self.  I can tell she still has little discomfort when she poo's but other than that she doing good.
