 We have moved (last tuesday)...........thank the Lord. But Houston we have a problem, its red about thirty inches long and we think a tad stressed. Amy is happy no matter what, as long as she is not caged, but Oliver is very routine driven. We decided that up here they do not go on furniture, so there is one stress point, everytime we shift things to there forever place, we think he thinks we are moving again. Yesterday we started to organise our work rooms, and the monsters helped.
Well Ollie got walked with nannie and the two boys in the morning and he was on the go all day then I took him with my mum and sister and the other four for a walk. Well half way through he kept stopping and looking at his feet. So I carried him to the pavement part, when I got him home he had dinner and totally bombed out. We gave him a dose of Medacalm as his pads were a bit swollen. This morning he is still tired, we decided to have a day off putting things away, so I sat and stitched with him in my lap on the floor to try and get him into somthing closer to his normal routine, we will not walk him to-day. We will watch till Tues and take him to the vet to get him checked out just in case.
What do you think
Just a lot of change...... our puppies ARE creatures of habit and change does upset them. Take it slow and give it a couple days. If he still seems out of sorts, wouldn't hurt to check with the vet. Sending rays !!!
Ollie's feeties are probably sore from being on the go most of the day along with being stressed because of the change. As Barb said, these llittle furkids are creatures of habit! Mine get upset if I move furniture in the house! I'd say some extra loving and cuddling time with Mum should help alleviate and accllimate Oliver to his new surroundings.
While dogs are routine oriented, they are remarkably adaptable to their situation. Rudy-angel had lived every single day of his life since I brought him home in November 1992 until I moved in August 2001. He was quite stressed at the new surrounds, even attacking Max-angel the day of the move (He cut Max above the eye, while it was a small cut, Max bled quite a bit). Rudy, Max and Rusty intially didn't understand the concept of a two-story house. I'd walk downstairs and they'd just stare at me from the landing.
Within a few days they got sorted out and discovered that having their own backyard was a pretty neat thing. I'm sure Ollie will sort it out soon.
