I just got a call from a gal here in Wasilla, she has to place her 7 year old male doxie in a new home due to medical issues a family member has. I am going to get as much info from her as I can, and will help her get in contact with some of the dachshund rescue outfits listed on the Adoption/Rescue page. But just wanted to get the word out there.
I just found a rescue outfit in Anchorage, Alaska called Alaska Puppy Love Rescue, it might be our best bet for this lady. I have emailed them to see what they can do for her.
That's nice of you to help Patty. I hope he finds a great home that's tough having to relocate at his age.
Are you still thinking about fostering or adopting rescues, you used to say you wanted to do that once you retired, I was looking forward to the day Patty's Doxie Rescue took off!
I need to go back to work. My surgeon is going to sign me off to work soon and the disability will be cut off, whether I have a job or not. My old workplace called me last week and asked if I would come back part-time. This was a Godsend. I want to go back, fulltime. I have applied for about 15 jobs around here and have gotten no responses. Its getting desperate. And there is no way I could ever foster doxies, I would get too attached, but I am willing to take in the old and special needs doxies.
Just got an email from this gal, her doxie boy is named Snikers, isn't that a cute name, and he is a 10-lb. long haired dapple, he must be beautiful.
I really hope Snickers can find a home quickly!! He sounds adorable. I'm glad you will be able to go back to your old job!! I'm with you on the fostering thing, i would never be able to let them go.
