Up until last night Eddie was sleeping through until morning without the aid of meds, but last night for some reason he was just too hyper. He paced, whined, yelped when he got stuck between the foot board and the mattress and fell off the bed once. Finally he did get half a pill,, but it never seemed to kick in so he tried to get off the bed several times. It seemed every time I just dozed off Eddie got stuck or something, I don't mind cuddling him but he doesn't want it. So when he decided he wanted to pull a Greg Louganis and dive off the bed I knew I had to do something. So what did this half asleep dachsie mom do - why she pushed the chest of drawers up to the side of the bed and block any chance for Greg jr to win a gold medal for bed diving. Eddie wasn't to pleased and sat there staring at the furniture trying to figure out how to move it - he even tried to push it with his nose. Finally giving up we went to sleep and I had to wake him up this morning to go potty.
On a more happy note Eddie is starting to wag his tail again and has decided that sitting on my lap is one way to keep Cleo Kitty away from me. And we found a great new food by Merrick called B.G. - Before Grain. No cereal whatsoever and it comes in Buffalo(Eddie loves it) too. It does have a miniscule amount of Chicken meal as a binding agent but nothing more. A local pet store has now started selling only premium and all natural foods which Eddie loves more than anything.
Oh my gosh, I sure hope you and Eddie have a restful night tonight.
Eddie - silly one - no diving off the bed !!!! Very ingenious mom !!! Very frustrating when they just can't settle in.... Smoochies to Eddie
Been there....do that every night. Madison, the dear, has become quite senile. She has her little pattern. She wakes me at 3 or 4 for a potty and then can't settle down until I finally get up around 5.....I refuse to get up before then.....and feed her. Of course, food signals Bonnie, who has slept through the EARLY morning charades and wants out of her crate. So, I've become accustomed....sort of...to the 4:00 pee and then the 5:00 feed. I get 'em supped and then, with full bellies, everyone goes back to bed until the alarm goes off at 5:50. By the weekend, I am a few hours sleep deprived and do love that I can sleep in an extra few hours.
Kiss Eddie for me. I do feel for you. Those elderly dawgs do get set in their own quirky ways. Take a nap...on me.
