Hi guys,
I need a quick favor. I'm going to NYC in July, yeah I know it'll be hot, anyway I have my hotel reservations, but not the plane yet. There are two major airlines that fly from Detroit to NYC: American and Northwest. I have flown Northwest, but not American and was wondering if any of you have flown American? Need feedback other than what I find on the Net.
PS
Eddie can shake his head now and doesn't pace the perimeter of the bed at night, but he has decided that my back is the best place to sleep.
Marcia, sorry I can't help you on the airlines. The only airline I have flown is Delta. But, I am so glad to hear of Eddie's continued improvement :apls: :apls:
Hi Marcia,
I travel a lot (business). I've used both airlines and really, they are both about the same in terms of amenities. I believe they are both charging now for luggage and beverages.
I try to fly JetBlue when I go to NYC. Primarily because they fly direct out of Tampa but I also like the fact that they have larger seats and personal televisions.

I fly at least once-twice per month, and have been using American a lot since moving to TX. I agree that both airlines are similar.
FYI: American charges $15 for the first checked bag, $25 for the second, but does not yet charge for beverages.
Meg has flown Northwest and American, Northwest the most. She liked both of them. Northwest did very well at keeping on time, and I have a patient who is a pilot for them and we were discussing how well they do with that a few weeks ago. As for the luggage charge-if you can print out your boarding pass before you get to the airport, you can usually save $10 on your second piece of luggage. You may at least be able to do that one way, if not both.
Meg is flying to Boston on Friday (the 13th!) and couldn't believe the difference in luggage charges between this year and last year. Last year the first piece was free and the second was 25 (or 10 if you printed your pass). This year the first piece was 25 and the second was 25 or 15 if you printed the pass. That added at least 80.00 to her ticket price. AT least the price was a good one. Jet Blue is the only airline that doesn't charge for luggage (or at least it didn't a couple of months ago). In Meg's case, they only have one flight per day from Charlotte to Boston and the time didn't work.
I hope you find a great deal and the flight is a good one.
By the way, I told Meg to take the US Air flight since they had one. This was right after the Hudson River landing. I told her if she was flying on Friday the 13th, she could at least fly with an airline that had pilots that could land a plane in a river! Seemed to make her feel better.
