Post by: laura*romeos*mommy on February 24, 2009, 02:22:52 PM
HI all well I posted about Romeos first trip yesterday and metioned he might have a cold, well he is still sneezing and coughing and stuff real bad I called the doctor vet but of course they say bring him in which I think I am going to do, but someone metioned allergies (sorry can't spell) lol I was wondering if maybe Romeo might have them.  What do you give them for that and how much and is it people meds like Benadrayl ???? Any help would be appreacited.
thanks all

I think I would get him in to see the vet and let him direct you as to the benedryl.   Your vet may help you rule out things that could be causing it.  Keep us posted !

The vet needs to seem him. My little Eddie had a lot of sneezing, and coughing and it turned out he had kennel cough. (He had the shots, but got it anyways). Anyways the vet was able to treat him, and he did get better.
Best to know the issue, then try guessing, and worrying.
Take care Romeo.

 for Romeo.  Porky's allergies are just like that during a flare-up.  Porky gets hives with his usually and he gets really worn out.   As far as the medication goes, you would definately need the vet to tell you all that.  Porky used to get benedryl for his flare-ups, but after his horrible summer, we have to take him in to the vet everytime now.   Please let us know how Romeo is doing!

Rays to sweet Romeo.  I keep thinking Kennel Cough but this sounds like a diagnosis needs to be done by a Vet.

ok took Romeo to the Doctor Vet yesterday and he has an upper resportiy infection sorry can't spell lol I was wanting him to cough and sneeze for the doc but he didn't then my hubby showed up and then he finally coughed and sneezed for the doc so he got to hear and see what he has been doing and that is what the doc came up with so he gave him some anitbotics and pertazone sorry can't spell still lol so we will see how that does the doc said that should clear it up he is a little better but I guess it will take a couple of days of getting the meds in him and working to really see if they are working.  Thank you all so much for the prayers and rays and good thoughts.  I believe our little baby will be ok :) hopefully he said he could have some forigen thing up his nose but he didn't think so of course if he doesn't get better we will take him back to doctor vet.  Thanks again everyone
God bless you all and all our little babies

We´re so pleased you got him to the vet and he´s on meds to help cure this quickly.  I don´t know where you live, but in our area of Spain lots of dogs and humans suffer from allergic rhinitis (sneezing, wheezing, crying) at this time of the year because of the olive pollen.  Hope Romeo is perky again soon and you can relax!

Sending Rays Romeo's way.   I think you'll notice a dramatic improvement now that he is on the antibiotics.  In general, I don't think our puppers are susceptible to the kind of rhinoviruses that affect us hoomans, so anytime you see excessive coughing of sneezing, there is definitely reason for concern.  You definitely did the right thing taking Romeo to the vet.
