My day was going okay today until my mama got a phone call. :chairfall: It was daddy and he said he was safe and at da powice station. What?! Den he told my mama dat he was going back to werk and would be home late cause he had lots of paperwork to fill out at da station.
My daddy is da soda pop man. He dribes da BIG truck all ober to different stores and machines and makes sure dey are filled and werking properly. Well, today he was doing his route like normal and he noticed a car take-off quickly abter he came out fwom one of his stops. He thought it was stwange, but went onto his next stop. He looked in his rearview mirror and saw da same car following him. :thinik:
Daddy wanted to see what dey were up to, so he locked up da twuck, and pwetended to go inside. He hid behind a corner and saw the people in the car ump out, look around, and open up the bag door of the truck. Dey started helping demselves to all da soda dey could fit in dere car. Daddy was smart and took some piccies wif his phone. Den, he called da powice. Da powice told him to confront the people and keep them there, until they could arrive.
Da people got caught and didn't hurt my daddy. Mama and I are fankful he is safe! We're gonna gib him extwa hugs and kisses when he does come home.
 Porky Pie
I'm so glad he is safe. He was smart to take the pictures with his phone. I am really surprised the police told him to confront them and keep them there. There is no telling what some people would have done to him. I would have expected them to have him continue to make stops and have them follow him, or at least make sure he had their tag number. It is amazing what people will do these days and how they will go about taking things that don't belong to them.
wow Porkey Pie that is scary I am so glad to hear it all worked out good and your daddy did not get hurt and the bad people are caught. Yes give your daddy lots of wet yummy kisses. Romeo sends hugs and kisses to you my friend
hugs and love laura and romeo
 :comfort:
What??? The police TOLD him to confront these thugs? Yeeeesh! He could have been really hurt! I can't believe that. I go with the smart move of taking pictures of 'em but not confronting 'em. I'm glad your daddy was not hurt. What a day!
That was a scary day! I cannot believe the police told your dad to confront the thieves!!!! What were they thinking. We are so glad he wasn't hurt. We know you and your momma gave him lots of kisses when he got home.

That's what I thought too! The police said that they knew exactly who the people were the second my husband described their vehicle and that they wouldn't try anything once confronted. My take on it, is you can never be sure about what people like that will do.
Anyway, I guess these people have done this frequently. They come from a place near here, known for extreme poverty, drug addiction, and alcoholism. This family fits in all three categories. It is so sad. The older sons are the ones that did the theft. They take food, soda, and alcohol of trucks that are delivering those items, and take it home to their siblings and parents. Its still no excuse for stealing. There are A LOT of programs around here that will help out with food if you need it that bad.
The guy who was "in charge" of the theft, had put everything back on the truck before the cops got there. So, they were not able to charge them with theft, but did give them a three day jail visit and a charge of trespassing. Most likely, these people will do it again to someone else. :doah:
I would agree that it was really strange for the police to ask your husband to confront the suspects. Even though I actually have training as a volunteer with our local Park Police, I am instructed to never confront a suspect. We're supposed to call anything into dispatch and then get as far away from the subject while maintaining line-of-sight. "Conceal and cover" as they refer to it.
Still, I'm glad that no one got hurt and the suspects were apprehended. Good job, Porky's dad!
Your daddy is very brave - I am so glad all is ok and the bad people were caught !
