Well I finally drove the car by myself yesterday. Whew....what a great feeling. Got in the darn thing, got out of the darn thing. I am a hopping mad-woman! Was able to get my left foot in the boot over on the side with no trouble. It is so good to be a little independent again.
More broken ankle stories:
(I forgot this one last time). John couldn't make it home in time and Kleine was crossing her legs so I had no choice but to open the door and let her funky walk down the deck to the backyard. I also funky walked down the deck on my crutches. We have little step-levels on our deck. Kleine made it down the levels, did her thing but couldn't get back up. She was pathetically standing there "awooing" to get back up. So I hobbled down the levels but then I couldn't get back up. (I am much better at this now.) I had forgotten my cell phone, so couldn't call my neighbor. So both of us were sitting in the backyard for twenty minutes until John got home. Luckily, it was a nice day that day and there were no lions, tigers or bears.
I took a sleeping pill before going to work the other day instead of my pain pill. Kept nodding off at my desk and didn't know why until I looked at the bottle. Going to color code the bottles from now on.
Wonderful Teresa turned me on to a site called mybrokenleg.com. They have great suggestions and one was to get a body pillow. So I got one and it is GREAT because I can fling my leg over it and have great support. Only the pillow sometimes moves in the middle of the night because Schnitzel likes it too! Then when the moving body pillow wakes me up I have to go to the bathroom and that is another whole story.......
PS Kleine is still on the higher dose of pred and we will see what happens...she started faultering a little so we had to increase the pred....
Hi Eileen! Sounds like both you and Kleine are making progress!!! I did get the copies of your x-rays. Sorry, life has been a whirlwind for me lately and I forgot to let you know I received them. All I have to say is OMG!!! Very impressive x-rays. Yikes, all those screws and that plate! Thanks for letting me see them, I love looking at x-rays and seeing what we are all made of. Take care.
