Mom tried out some new recipies for treats for us.....all healthy! No bad stuff! They meet with a thumbs up for us so we wanted to share....
WOOF BALLS
(These are not cookies so be sure to store these meaty balls in the refrigerator after cooking them!) Maikes about 2 to 2 1/4 lbs of balls
1 1/2 lbs ground beef (we used 90/10%)
1/4 lb ground pork
3 cups quick rolled oats
1/2 cup wheat germ
4 tsp molasses
4 large egg yolks
In a medium bowl, using a fork or your hands blend the beef and pork.
In a large bowl, using a fork or wire whisk, blend the rolled oats and wheat germ.
In a small bowl, using a fork, beat together the molasses and egg yolks.
Using a large spoon or your hand, combine the threee mixes, blending until thoroughly mixed together. Flour your hands and pinch off pieces of the dough, about the size of olives and form them into balls.
Place them on a microwave plate or platter lined with parchment paper, and microwave on HIGH for 3 minutes. Remove from the microwave and cool to room temperature. Return to the microwave and cook for another 3 minutes.
Remove from the oven, cool to room temperature, place in storage container. Store them in the refrigerator. They'll keep about 7-10 days in the refrigerator or longer in the freezer.
PUMPKIN DOG DROP TREATS
1 15oz can mashed pure pumpkin (NOT spiced mix)
3/4 cup cream of wheat or rice (we used cream of rice)
1/2 cup powdered milk
Mix all ingredients together. Using a pastry bag, make 1 1/2 to 2 inch swirls or rosettes on a lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 300 Degrees for 15 minutes.
Treats come out soft and slightly chewy.
Makes about 2 - 3 dozen depending on size. We made ours about the size of a quarter. You can also put a unsweetened carob chip in the center of each cookie prior to baking if you desire. Mom didn't put carob chips on ours and they are still good.
Sarge n Duggie
:apls: MMMMM!!!Those sound tasty! Thanks for sharing those with us. I'm going to make some of those for Porky. Its so hard finding treats he can eat so I end up making most of them myself. He's getting kind of tired of the peanut butter balls, so he'll be thrilled to have something new!!!
Brilliant - thank you!
