What are the warning signs of bloat? From what I read Kirby has none of them other than he looks like he just swallowed a watermelon.
If you think your dog has Bloated get off the computer and take to the vet Bloat can kill a dog in a matter of hours. Rather be safe than sorry also may keep more of their insides the stomach or intestine can get the blood supply cut off and it will die rather quickly. The vet can only remove a certain amount of dead organ or tissue then the dog would not have a very good quality of life.Hope your Fur Kid is OK keep us posted. WOW!!! I hope you got him to the vet. Bloat can be deadly. After a dog eats a large meal, they shouldn't be exercising. The stomach and intestines get twisted, this condition causes quite a bit of pain and requires the immediate attention of a vet. Bloat seems to occur mostly in the large breed dogs, but it can happen to small breeds as well. Please let us know how he doing.

Yikes! I sure hope Kirby is okay!! Please post and let us know.
Kirb seems to be fine. we think he just ate too much and was gassy. Everything appears normal. We have a vet appointment this weekend so I'll have him checked out.
My poor Dane Fred bloated. You'd know if it Kirby was bloating. Excruciating pain and obvious distress and as has been said can kill very quickly. I'm glad it doesn't look like that is what Kirby is facing.
Glad Kirby is OK but if he had Bloated you could not wait until the weekend Bloat = Vet now.
My 1st Bouvier CJ I thought he Bloated he was trying to throw up looked big to me was suppose to go to work, worked 11-7 shift did not want to leave him alone with no one to watch him. I took him to the ER Vet he spent the night I called and checked on him though out the night.A expensive night but I was so happy he was where they would watch him all night well worth the monies to me.CJ was fine no Bloat thank goodness.
It also helps to feed 2 meals one am & one pm do not know if Kirby eats fast like Patches does but that might be a reason they can Bloat no one really knows what causes Bloat.Small meals no exercise an hour before meals or after meals plus they are not to drink vast amounts of water before or after meals. Some have said to feed from a raised feeder some say do not use a raised feeder but that would be more for big dogs.
Glad Kirby is feeling better.

The others are right in that bloat is a serious issue. There isnt' time to wait if that is what is going on with the dog. It generally doesn't happen to small dogs, but dachsies are susceptible to it due to the deeper chest for the overall size of the dog. It gives more room and allows for more gas to build up, etc. It is very painful for the dog, so it tends to be obvious a vet visit is needed immediately.
Cajsa is one of the Queens of over eating. At one point she would have 'melon belly' a few times a week because she'd eat something like a loaf of bread or half a dozen bagels while I was gone. In instances like that she'd just not get her dinner and was watched to make sure she didn't get sick. She's not so bad now, but I also can't leave anything on my kitchen table or counter tops or she gets it. Food has to be out of sight or shoulder height so she can't get it.
Patches is a inhaler of food so bought her one of the small breakbowls has plastic knobs to slow down there eating so fast. It really works she does not inhale the food does not seem as starved as she did act. Also would help prevent bloat if they eat slower.
