Title: Texas dog owners....Question for you.
Post by: JetEd73 on January 14, 2009, 08:38:54 AM
It seems to me that when I live in Texas many years ago that we pretty much had fleas year round.

Do you guys have to fight fleas all year or not?

We have our property treated for fleas and we use flea and tick preventative year round. We also use heartworm preventative year round, as it gets warm enough for mosquitos even in the winter.

My heartworm pill includes coverage for fleas and I do this year round.  I also use a flea/tick topical April - October.

I use flea/tick stuff as needed. Some years I never use it. Some years it is more of a summer thing. And some years it never ends. Heartworm preventative year round however.

Advantix is a wonderful thing!!!!! We use that and heartgard year-round. You are right...fleas are awful in Texas. Ticks are too.
