It's probably sitting on someone's porch while they are on a trip. This happened to me a couple of treat boxes ago. I sent some fine Iowa produce to the northwest and the recipient was on vacation. Result, the treat box sat out on their porch in the heat for over a month and when I dared mention that a note to the board that the recipient would be out of town for a while might have prevented some misunderstanding, I was soundly chastised and called an insensitive clod (or stronger equivalents) for suggesting that when you are expecting a treat box some communication might be called for. I was also called to task for sending goodies that were unable to survive a month on a porch in the sun.

Result - I no longer participate in treat boxes.

Oh No! That isn't good!

Barb - Since you have the master list  can you check in with the recipient?

I remember that, Rich.  I am so sorry you were given a bad time.  I think your recipient even moved, huh?  I just figured that since Priority Mail gets delievered to the house, that they should acknowledge its arrival.  These recipients do not post very often, so I was hoping that posting this would let them realize we want to know (and see) that pupper(s) enjoy their goodies.

That just stinks.   I vaguely remember the treat box fiasco that Rich went through.  I think it happened right after I joined the board.     :thinik:  Hopefully the lucky recipients post some pictures soon.    I really hope the package didn't get left on a porch somewhere.    I know when auntie Cheryl sent us a package last year the dodo mailman left it outside in the snow drift!!  :doah:   Luckilly nothing was damaged except the cardboard box.

I participated in an exchange on another board that was disastrous too, so I took a leap of faith participating in this one.  I'm glad I did-it was a lot of fun for me this time.  On the other board, they just pair people up, so I got one girl and she got me.  I sent off a treat box with $400 worth of stuff in it, and never got one back.

I hope your person checks in soon.

Oh geez, this is unfortunate.  Seems like everyone puts a lot of thought and effort into the treat boxes they send, and we are all excited about the recipient of our box also being excited, and excited enough to post right away, at least that they got it.  And then post pictures if they are able.  Its natural to expect a 'thank you' in a timely manner when you send a gift.  And it IS disappointing when there is no reaction at all.  I'm sorry Julia, I have met you and know what a wonderful, caring person you are.  I'm sure the treat box you sent was really nice.

Goodness gracious... I have been without internet at the house..Im breaking the rules by even posting this from work.  SORRY GUYS!! We got it. As soon as I can get some pictures up I will post them from work. The puppers are excited. I just haven't been able to get things on here yet.

And as for not being appreciative.. well lets just say someones WAY OFF base. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas anyway. Sheesh.

Carrie.

:meme: ALL RIGHT EVERYBODY - DON'T GET YOUR KNICKERS IN A KNOT!!!

:thinik: NOW, SOME SOLUTIONS:

1)  If you get a treat box and can't post a "GOT IT" note, on the Internet, how about sending off a quick note or a postcard to the sender?  Something along the lines of:  "My internet it down/dead!  Got the box - WOW!!  Will post when I can!.  Love, Auntie Out-of-touch"

2)  If you are sending a treat box, let the coordinator know the day it leaves your house and how: pony express, slow boat to China, floating down the Nile in a basket (hey, it worked for Moses - look where he ended up!).  The coordinator can nudge - she's quite adept at it.  I know, I took TWO MONTHS to send along a treat box.

3)  Rich, anyone who said bad words to you is sorry.  THEY'RE REALLY, REALLY SORRY!  THEY'LL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!  THEY DIDN'T MEAN IT!!!  NOBODY WANTS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING SAMMY OR SOPHIE FROM BEING TREAT BOX PUPPERS!!!  RIGHT, EVERYONE???!???

Now, have I covered all the crises de jour?  Good!  Now all together, GROUP HUG!   :grouphug:

Remember, life is too short.  And for those of you Chrstians on the board, get a chuckle over this bumper sticker I saw last week - "Jesus is Coming - Look Busy!"

You forgot about the package going out by Iditarod Poodle dogs.
I, too, hope that Rich will participate again in the future, and Carrie too.

Poodle Dog sled duly noted, but must be postmarked in Alaska, Hawai'i and Puerto Rico only.  No CONUS delivery available.

CONUS???
I'm sorry - that's what the military calls the lower 48.  CON=continental, US=United States.  Apparently, Alaska is not considered part of the continent!   :dontknow:

I have heard from Carrie, Sadiemom who is the one that received the box.  She did receive it, but has not opened yet.  She is going through a rough time, it is this time last year that she lost her daughter.  She apologized all over the place, so I hope that you will understand if you don't hear right away.  I am sure she will carry on the Treat Box after the holidays.

Whew!  Ok - at least I know Sadiesmom HAS it!  I sent my sister birthday and Christmas presents from the very same post office, the very next day, and here I am 6 days later, she should have gotten it Monday, and it is not there, so I am very upset.  I have no way to replace what I got her for her birthday, and most of what I got her and my brother-in-law for Christmas.  I have been trying NOT to overreact - but TWO priority mail packages not turning up was about to send me off the deep end!

No, Carrie, I would never assume someone was ungrateful - I just was hoping that you had no neighbors or someone who saw the package and decided in these rough times that it might save them some time and money and cut down on their shopping.  Once I made a dress for my sister and sent it, unhemmed, with thread.  She called me when she got the EMPTY envelope in the mail, and wanted to know what I had sent.  Sometimes I have a problem with trust issues when it comes to shipping things by USPS.

Yeah, we get that a lot..........don;t get me started.     We are part of the continental USA, but not the contiguous, or however you spell it, USA.  But we do call ourselves the UPPER ONE, and you guys are the Lower 48.  We even have a restaurant called the Upper One.  And we love Hawaii, our sister state.

Thank you Julia for the beautiful box of goodies. The children love their hoodies and TREATS.  And I appreciate all the time and effort you put into their package.  I know we didn't do things the normal way and Im sorry for making you wait. Im not even sure these pictures are going to show up and if they dont I will get to the library and see about reloading them bigger. But I didn't want to make you wait anylonger to see how much they love them. Kramer hasn't taken his hoodie off since we put it on him. He loves it.

Merry Christmas.
Carrie Sadie and Kramer.

What a great box and the pups are soooo so so so cute. Thanks for posting those Carrie. I'm so so sorry to hear about the rough time you have been going through holidays can be tough even at the best of times.

Julia, I think boxes are really slow this time of year especially if they are bigger ones. We also were just sweating a box coming that was sent the same day as a smaller package and the smaller package came over a week ago, the other box just came either Friday or Saturday...leave it to the PO to add to our holiday stress, eh?

Hmm - is it my imagination or is Sadie's hoodie a little big?  I know - she's trimmed up since you listed her size, right?  Claim it, Sadie - we girls always like people to think we've lost weight!  How cute is Kramer?  Maybe we'll get to see a picture of them both in their hoodies some day in the near future...

Gee - did I send you the Nana's Apple Cake or the Blueberry Buckle cake mix?  I have been so into Tastefully Simple lately.  Do you do much baking?

Yup. She is definitely one of those leaner doxies. I can't fatten her up to save my life. Maybe those desserts will help ;).  She looks like I starve her to death but she and Kramer both eat me out of house and home.  They killed bobo right away.  But they are having a ball with the ball and other toys. I tried downloading pictures of Kramer in his blue hoodie but it keeps giving me an error. I will try again soon.  I also had a real good picture of both of them but it wont download either.  You sent the Apple Cake. I can't wait to get into that one.

Thank you for so many goodies for Christmas. Its been fun.

Carrie, Sadie looks adorable in her hoodie....you will have to give her lots of treaties to fatten her up!  Can't wait for the pictures of Kramer in his blue one.  Another great treat box!!  WOO HOO :hello2: :hello2:
