What I would like to ask you guys is are any of you who are fostering willing to ship to Alaska, and what are the terms.
If you have pictures of your fosters, post them please.
I referred this person to DRNA and Dachshund Rescue of San Diego, so she could see the dogs that are available and start the application process.
Thanks for your help.
I would have a hard time shipping to alaska. thats too much crate time and im sure more than one transfer.
if you could keep the transit time/crate time to 6 hours or less would be good, at least in my opinion. I'm sure someone would disagree.
she should be able to find a dog on the west coast so you could keep the flight direct with no transfers.
I know anything is possible. I got my Misty Girl thru DRNA. She was in Georgia. An airline attendant used her free travel and days off to escort Misty all the way from Georgia to Alaska. Misty was in a sherpa bag in the cabin and got frequent breaks, snacks and water. The escort was part of Dachshund Underground Railroad...........airline employees who used their free travel and days off to escort rescue doxies to their new homes. Don't know if that group is still around.
As I recall, there were several members here that were hoping to escort Misty on the last leg of the trip.....from Seattle to Anchorage. But Misty's Georgia escort was able to take her the entire way.
How wonderful!! There are definitely Angels Among Us!!!

There certainly are! And anyone who says they won't ship to Alaska hasn't looked at all the options. I would never put a dog in cargo, and if it came down to it, I would go and escort the dog myself.
I wonder if Tom Flynn is still with DRNA in Georgia.
