This morning, Meg and I decided (for some unknown reason) to get up and go to the mall at 4am. The alarm went off at 3:30, I got up, Schatzi got up and then went outside for a potty break. Her normal thing would be to go right back to bed, however, Meg and I had changed the routine! She wandered from one room to the other as we quickly got ready, jumping against our legs and wanting to be picked up and, I'm sure, put on the bed and snuggled with.
When we walked to the door to leave, she started pitching a fit. I haven't heard such whining in a long time. She only sounds like that when we take Molly out without her! It was just pitiful, and we had not even walked outside yet. When we got to the car, she was on the side porch watching us leave and whining.
All we could figure out was she knew it was not time to get up. It was dark! She had been outside-she knew it was dark! We had not been asleep very long, and suddenly we were leaving.
Of course, when we came home two hours later you would have thought we had been gone for a week! At least tonight she can sleep all night and not be disturbed. Any shopping tomorrow will be at the normal time, or at the earliest 8:30 or so.
Ha! The little monsters DO love their routine. Poor Schatzi.
Poor Schatzi!!!! LOL! So...what stores did you hit?
We only went to JCPenneys and one other department store that early in the morning. I just didn't have the nerve to tackle Target, Walmart or any of the other ones. I went back out this morning and it was wonderful! Most people were still sleeping in and at 9:00 the mall was quiet and the stores had some great sales. I picked up a few things, but mostly enjoyed walking around and seeing the Christmas decorations without the huge crowd. This is the third year I've gone out early on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I love it.
