Title: Thanksgiving Treats
Post by: Jenny G on November 24, 2008, 06:18:40 AM
I'm in total nesting mode with my pregnancy so I thought I'd spread some of my nesting efforts to my furbabies. I found this receipe on bullwrinkle.com for Thanksgiving Treats. They have a ton of homemade treats for dogs. Mine really like the garlic cheese bites which are easy to make and make my house smell wonderful!

2 lbs ground turkey
2 eggs
2 cups cooked rice
8 oz peas
3 carrots, diced
1 apple, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced

Preheat oven to 375. Mix all ingredients in large bowl. Form into shape of large bone on a baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes.

I'm thinking of making several small bones (at least 1 per furkid). Anyone see anything that may not be good for all dogs? None of mine have any food allergies or anything so I think these should be fine.

PS - It's a boy! We're naming him Tucker after Nantucket where we eloped. No middle name yet - we're still tossing around a few ideas.

Just be careful that there is no turkey skin included as it's high in fat.  I've read where more domestic animals have pancreatic attacks after Thanksgiving than any other time.
