I thought of this because tonight I noticed complete opposites in my grrrrls. Maddie LOVES to be under covers. It doesn't matter how many covers it is, even if one of her "covers" is a Bonnie....who was partially laying on the Roo tonight. Bonnie is the opposite. If Bonnie is under more than a light blankie, she will start to pant and hyperventilate. She just does not tolerate heat, I guess. So, Maddie's a burrower and Bonnie's a hot dog.
How are your kids "opposites"?
Alex is sweet and Willy is sour.
Alex is friendly and Willy is aloof.
But both are snuggle bugs in the chair or in the bed.
My two boys are about as opposite as can be in personality. People ask who my favorite is, and I say "the boys". I couldn't decide between them-they're opposites, but endearing in different ways.
Winston loves to be outside, no matter the weather. Murphy wants to be inside and sometimes I actually have to carry him outside.
Winston is friendly and happy and energetic. Murphy is shy, and reserved and loves to sleep.
Winston is brave. Murphy is afraid.
Winston doesn't like to be held and cuddled for more than a minute. Murphy just wants to be as close to you as possible (preferably washing your face at the same time).
Porky loves baths, Bandit hates them
Porky is brave, Bandit's a scardey-cat
Porky is happy and friendly, Bandit is grounchy and doesn't like anyone but family
Porky eats all his food at once, Bandit savors his food throughout the day.
Bandit is terrified of water, Porky LOVES swimming!!!
Zoe: Loves to swim, outgoing and friendly. Winston: Loves only his daddy and mommy, hates the water!!! Zoe: Loves to play wif toys.....Winston: Can take them or leave them. Winston: Loves rawhides......Zoe: Loves toys...period!! Winston doesn't destuff toys....Zoe is da Champion Destuffer!!!

ah geez, you have to remember I raised Zuzu from a pup and Loki was an adult that we found on Petfinder. Also, she's from New Yoik, so that says a lot.
Zuzu: obedient, calm, loving, patient and sweet.
SO obedient she will follow the "leave it" command 90% of the time and never steals food.
She knows her needs will always be met and mom won't ever let her down. BUT!!! she has attacked Loki BADLY on several occasions over a toy or chewie--and will zealously hunt, kill & EATmice. so go figure. (another mouse flew over the fence yesterday. WTh mom )
Loki: flat out nutz. Food obsessed, demanding, self focused and relentless. Seriously--only when nearly dead with a freepin' ruptured disk was she still and quiet. And even then she hoiked herself up to get to the car to goferaride (to the vet).
She will bark until DH gets her something. Has bitten us both but we now figure it was probably the result of her back/neck hurting when being picked up. So imagine my hesitation when I had to put eye cream in her eye. No flinching, no snarling, nothing. I can about do anything physically to that dawg (except foot choppies) and she's okay with it.
Not interested in hunting, could care less about squirrels unless the run right in front of her. Loves goin' for a ride and you don't even have to say it--she just knows--dunno how, but she knows when she's gonna goferaride.
Love em both though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Champ crabby - Smokey cluelessly happy all the time
Champ hungry - Smokey.. oh there's food?
Champ on the covers - Smokey under the covers
Champ, I'll do my business when I'm good and ready after I sniff around a bit more. Don't rush me or it will take longer -
Smokey, Done lets go in now.
Champ, your are walking too fast so I will sit down until you walk at my speed -
Smokey, is there another speed other than all out leash stretching full bore run?
Champ, rain? I will not move off of this dry porch and there is nothing you can do to make me move. If you try I will make you pay.
Smokey, why is it wet out here? I kinda like this stuff. I want to stay here longer I'm liking this.
Champ, holds a grudge FOREVER and I mean Forever and makes you pay when it does not go his way.
Smokey, What? Did you do something? Oh I forgot. Nothing bothers him ever.
Champ hate every dog he sees on the street - Smokey friends with every dog he sees.
Champ who are you and why are you in my house? I want you out now. Come near me and you will pay.
Smokey did you come here to play with me? Pick me up! Pick me up! Pet me now! I love you.
Our two are almost a opposite as they get but if you separate them they are lost without eachother.
Aw, DP thanks for sharing. I'm beginning to realize that a lot of your instances could apply to my girls but in a mixed order.
Brandy loves to snuggle with me. Rudy usually won't unless he is very tired or feeling puny - then he is a mama's boy :)
Sarge is mellow and laidback, friends to anyone
Duggie is hyper and active and if you move, I'll bark at ya (he does this barking routine to everyone but Dave and I)
My girl is like a loving, doting, Aunt and my boy is the black sheep of the family, cracked out, Uncle.
Zeke is the extrovert of the two of them. He loves everybody who comes into his world. Zeke is also the more aggressive of the two and more willing to butt heads with other dogs.
Zora is much more of an introvert, and does not readily accept strangers. She is fiercely protective of her "brood". Zora is also completely devoid of any aggressive instincts. Even with animals that would traditionally be considered "prey", Zora's first instinct is maternal, not predatory.
Zora will eat anything that isn't nailed down. Zeke is the only dachshund I've seen that cannot, and will not, be motivated by food.
