Post by: Norman on November 15, 2008, 06:22:59 AM
Simon sure does. Its hard to get him to go out and take care of business. When its pouring I have to gear up and carry him out.Benji, our Yorkie,is just the opposite.

The things we do for our little guys!

rainy days are when we keep out a puppy pad because we know no dogs will venture thru that doggy door!  we are short and will surely melt!!!

From Willy and Alex.........we love to go outside but when its raining out, we change our minds real quick when mom opens that door.  We use our puppy pad instead.

From Miss Judy:
"Rain...pffft...I'm not going outside.  You can't make me.  I'll melt."

Patches:
What rain...is it raining...I think I'll just stand in this puddle and take a leak without lifting my leg.  Ya think anyone will notice?  Back into my warm spot quick!"

Dottie:
"Rain...Cat, I saw a cat!  It was hiding from the rain and I chased it through the yard, across the neighbor's and into the next driveway.  Momma was chasing the cat too...except she was calling my name and I ignored her!  She was wearing her bathrobe and slippers and it was raining hard!'  She looked funny!"

Schatzi is a great combination of Dianne's Judy and Dottie. If it is up to her to use the doggie door in the rain-forget it. She thinks she will melt and, of course, her toes are NOT supposed to touch the wet ground. If we decide to let her go in the front yard (on the leash) she will pick up the scent of one of the neighborhood cats and keep you out there forever. Forget taking care of business, her mind is only thinking about the C-A-T and where it might be hiding! Randy told me last night to let her just run  out the door. If it's raining, she'll come right back in after she does her business. I knew better. I put her on the leash and we followed cat scents for a good 5-10 minutes. Lucky for me, it was only misting! When we came in, she decided it wasn't too bad out there and goes out the doggie door!!

Dis is Parker: Today the rains got real chunky and sticks to me and is colllllllllddddd. Me thinks I'll stay in from now on. I can dooos my biznis on the carpet.

Parker's Mom here: I need some advice. How can I encourage Parker to do his business on the pads. Mostly he heads to the pads, but sometimes, he just goes wherever.

Master Parker and Mister Patches have something in common.  There are puppy pads in all corners of the downstairs family room which the girls will use.  But, Mr. Patches will take a dump on the living room carpet!

While we haven't seen much rain, we did have some about 2 weeks ago.  Here's the girls thoughts on the poison drops.

Maddie:  Eeeewwww!  Rain.  Wet!  I have to go outside?  Is it really raining hard?  (sniff sniff) Well, (looks at mommy)  Do I gotta?  Oh, (sigh) all right.  I will do it, but I don't like it one little bit.  Hurry!  Hurry!  I'm done!  Help me up the steps!  Hurry!  I'm melting.  Whew!  I was a good girl.  I went out in da wain for my potties.

Bonnie:  (in the voice of Beaky Buzzard-remember him?)  Ah, nope! Nope!  Nope!  I aint'a gonna go.  Nope.  Er, uh, no no no.  Not me?  No sir.  I ain'ta gonna get wet.  Nope.

So, on with the fuzzy slippers and fuzzy robe.  Mommy puts the light on in the side bedrooms for some outside light and into the darkness, with doggers(Maddie wants to go too) we slush outside, under the awning to do our potties.  What we mommys and papas do for our doglets.

For a dogger who loves the shower, Bonnie does not get the concept that the great outdoors can be one big shower.

(TISN'T WARM LIKE YOUR SHOWER, MOMMY)

Quiet child. :hm:

Patches & Buddy both think the rain is acid I put their rain coats on tell them to get out there I watch from the covered Patio to make sure they go then back in the house for a nice warm towel down from the dryer. They love the nice warm towel straight out of the dryer it sorta makes up for the fact I make them go out in the rain in the first place.Have trained all my dogs since puppy hood to go potty on command really helps when rainning, snowing, sleeting or anything else outside.Patches Mom

OLiver goes out no matter the weather, so you can guess the wet mop that returns,  Amy is a full time paid up member of the "I'll melt club" so I have to stand on the ramp and push her gently on her way.
Emma was the best even when she was blind she knew where the rain line started, she even was known for putting her botty out the dog door and going girlies.

Both my crew hates the rain.

Ms. Lucy will go with some encouragement, quick out and then back in

Mr. Wilson, you have to drag him out kicking and screaming (figureatively that is).

And if I forget to make em go, or it starts rain when I'm not home, they go right in front of the bathroom door as if to say "I know where to go, just don't know how to use it".

I have a mental picture of this  :2funny:

For my guys, it depends on how hard it's raining.  In a normal Seattle drizzle, they'll go out, no problems.  When it starts coming down hard enough to feel, they put the brakes on.  I'm about to pick up some turf and I'm going to set up a corner of my front porch with the turf and a log for them to pee on when it really rains, so they can be under cover.  My porch is huge, 17' x 7', so a corner won't be difficult.
