To make a long story short..
When Lucy was one year old she was hit by a car. I live on a circle and don't have 10 cars that pass my house each day. I had let the dogs out to tee-tee on my lunch break. Ms. Lucy decided to hunt the birds on the other side of the road...end result, hit by a car, broken pelvis, orthopedic surgery and 3-4 weeks of therapy. She came home still a spry athletic little dog, she was a little crooked but still happy and healthy ( we thought)
6-7 years later, (she's now 8 years old) Ms. Lucy has a new whine. You owners know that whinners have different whines that mean different things. This is a new whine, I take it that somethings wrong. There is something wrong, took us 3 vet visits to figure out that when she got hit by the car it ruptured her diaphram. Her Liver and part of her intestine was in her chest cavity, she's been running on about 1 and 1/4 lung due to the intrusion... Back to surgery, and here's where the current problem starts.
After 6 years of not being repaired they couldn't really close the hole in her diaphram. Cant use gortex as it has holes. The doctor takes her kidney and sutures it to the diaphram, hole closed for now. A temperary fix for now.
Last night Ms. Lucy wasn't herself, didn't want to play with me, turned down dinner, I found a pile of her puke. Somethings wrong.
To the vet this morning, x-rays. Barium tests right now....and to be honest IF her stomach is in her chest cavity as we suspect. I'm afraid I'll be sending Ms. Lucy to the bridge. I'll be consulting with the doctor treatment options first for sure, but to be honest, how many time do you operate on a dog and still call yourself humain?
Im not a happy camper right now.
Prayers and Rays needed.
I am so sorry to hear about Ms. Lucy I sure hope she will be ok. I will be sending rays and prayers your way. Sure hope the doctor vets can help.

Oh how awful. If she is having more problems due now to being hit by the car when she was one, then one would have to think long and hard about what her future would be like. I have no advice to give, its a difficult call. Will pray for Lucy.
Rays to Ms Lucy Hugs to you both hope they can come up with a plan to help her. Pabouv,Patches & Buddy
Oh no!!! I'm so sorry. Rays to you and Lucy. Poor baby.
Good News.
All her internal organs are where they are supposed to be. So her operation to close the hole in the diaphram is still holding good.
To keep it simple, she's picked up a stomach bug. Sheesh, when this dog turns up her nose at dinner, something is wrong.
Dr. Amy (not Lucy's regular vet) was the first vet at the office when I went in yesterday and because of Lucy's special case, the first x-rays threw her for a loop. When I went to check on Lucy at 4:30 my regular vet was there and she said Ms. Lucy would be fine.
So, I guess I'm just a worried father that got a little scared.
Thank You for your kind support.

:apls: :apls: Thank goodness Ms. Lucy will be okay...we were all worried. JetEd, will this be a permanent fix for Ms. Lucy...you said something before about it being a temporary fix...or did I misinterpret something? Ms. Lucy should have extra hugs and kisses tonight!!
