I've had to bite my tongue on this for 4 months now as I was sworn to secrecy until the magazine came out but someone just congratulated me so the December issue must be out.
I won the wildlife division of the Artist's magazine annual national competition out of over 1600 entries (HUGE shock). There were 11,000 entries total in all categories together. That is my biggest win so far.

This is my winning painting, it also won Best of Show last month out of over 700 entries and People's Choice award every day of the show (17 days) which is the first time in it's history the same painting won every day.
Congrats DD, but are you sure it's not a photograph it looks so real.
My first thought was "Crap! THAT'S a PAINTING?!" I thought it was a photograph as well because of the detail that is in it. It is beautiful DD.

This one may have pushed you up there with an even high caliber of artists. This is phenomenal. I've been reading a book "Wesley the Owl" so it is awesome to see some of the detailing on this owls face and know why the feathers are arranged the way the are.

Speechless, here. Congrats on a well deserved award. Awesome is the only word that comes to mind, but not accurate enough. It just boggles my mind that a person's hand (OK, YOUR hand) did this! Just incredible.

Thanks you guys! I can't believe how many people have been writing, and the newspaper just called and is coming next week for an interview and pictures (quick! I gotta hire some pretty young chick to play me!!! :grin:). My goal, as always, is to get Hallie in the shot. :thumb: Shouldn't be too hard since she's pretty much always in my arms...I guess since I got excited over this last June when I got the phone call but then wasn't allowed to tell anyone til now, it has sunk in for me so I'm surprised at the hub bub!

YES!!! Which door will she be delivered to, front or back so I know where to sit and wait! The longhair variety comes with her, right? :grin: Actually a Dr. in Seattle has purchased this but I could go get it back and tell them I got a better offer lol.
