Title: Cajsa isn't the only goat in my house!
Post by: April on October 20, 2008, 12:59:59 PM
Elf has taken up the mantle.  I swear I think Cajsa was sitting back laughing.  Elf ate some holly berries off out bush last night.  Thankfully it wasn't enough to hurt her and she is fine, but the holly plant is toxic to people and dog alike.  Elf ate about 4-5 berries which was well under the 20+ she would have had to eat for a toxic dose, but we've been watching her for vomiting or diarrhea and she is fine.  I could only imagine if Cajsa could've gotten to the berries.  She'd probably eat them too.  Then we'd really have been in trouble!   :ambulance:  Elf now knows (and she'd been told before) that she shouldn't eat anything from outside without checking with me or David first.  Gretchen was happily sleeping through all the excitement of calling the doctor, the ER then finally poison control!

We have serious pica issues with Jessica.   We're pretty sure it's behavioral, but she'll put just about anything in her mouth and try to eat it.   Paper in general, and toilet paper in particular are up near the top of the list.  When Margie was at the doctors today, Jessica spied a little boy drawing with crayons.   She went over to the boy, took the crayon and bit down into it.   Fortunately, she has not decided to get into the Zs food.   Jessica does seem to be noticing the Zs more and interacting with them.

Elf is not one to put things in her mouth.  We were also right there beside her when she popped them into her mouth or we probably wouldn't have caught her before she ate too many.  According to her they taste like cranberries and are a little tart.  She also informed me that she liked them.  This is not a good thing considering.

I do know a little girl who is going to be watched like a hawk from now on though.  It's like leaves and berries are just too attractive for her to avoid eating/chewing.  (She's been told not to eat leaves and grass on several occasions.)

Goodness, April, I am so glad you were right there to stop her.  I am happy to hear she is fine.
