Title: My mom
Post by: cheryl186 on October 18, 2008, 06:52:48 PM
Sorry I haven't been on in a couple days.  My mom was in the hospital this past week due to being dehydrated.  She got home today and the doctor says she has to have someone with her 24/7 until she gets back to see him in a week.  I am going to spend the night tonight and tomorrow and then my sister will take over.  We are going to have someone from the Council on Aging come in and talk to us on Monday about what services we can get for her.  So...I will be on here probably only while I am at work.  I have a sister in law who is going to stay with her this week when we can't.  Wish us luck!  Hopefully with some help, mom will bounce back to 100 percent soon.  She does not want to go into a nursing home and we respect her wishes.  If we can't work things out with a nurse stoppiing by or having a live-in companion, mom will go to live with my older sister and her husband.  I am just glad that mom is okay :apls: :apls:  Be back when I can and I hope everyone is doing well!!

I'm glad your mom is doing okay.   It gets really scary when they get sick like that!   Good Luck finding care for her.   I'll be praying for the best for you and your family.    We hope to see you back here soon.   Take care!!

Keeping good thoughts for you and your mom.  I am praying that she bounces back.  It sounds like you have a good support system for her care.  I went through much the same with my mom and was able to have her in her own home with my care and a part time nurse.  Wishing you the same !!!  Please keep us posted -

I'm glad to hear you have a good support system in place.  That is so important.  My Grandparents lived in their own home until they died, but they had 24/7 care.  Neither of them wanted to go into a nursing home or assisted living situation and we were able to do that for them.  I do think it made it better for them than it could have been.  It is hard, so feel free to talk to us here or someone there about it.

My FIL stays with his mom at night and they have a lady who stays with her during the day.  It is hard on him as well for now st least she is reasonably independent.  She's confused and forgetful, so she won't remember you 5 minutes after you leave, but she can talk to you while you're there.  So I understand how it can be on two different ends of the spectrum.
