but I'll ask anyway. Mark (who always says Maddie's my dog and who always said, after Maddie, no more dogs for 6 months) asked me today if I was planning on keeping her. (How do you like that for a sentence?) I asked him back, How do YOU like her? He admitted that he thought she was awfully cute and a very good girl. She IS very well behaved and QUIET. She is warming up to us and so far, no more Elvis impressions (lip curls). We are still in training mode on that behavior. Anyway, back to the question......
SHALL WE ADOPT HER?
I sure make a lousy foster mommy, huh?
Hey you're not a lousy foster momma! 2 years ago January 12 I was asked to take in a female foster like Bonnie and after she was here in Illinois for a week we decided to keep her-I'm talking about little Annie that was star of the day a week ago Thursday. Is she starting to want to be near Maddie some?I said in a previous post that to just give her time and the 2 of them will be unseperatable. Annie sleeps with me and my dog Blusky and they both sleep side by side.
YES!! YES!! Adopt her!!! :hello2:
:apls: :hello2: :meme: We were hoping you were thinking of adopting her!!! I say go for it!!!
Oh Sandi, you wooos, you milk-toast, you softie!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!! I knew you would be a LOUSY foster mom. You're like me, once they are in your house, hey, they are family!!! Yes, ADOPT!!!! I am SO proud of you!!!!!!!!! :hello2:
Both Sam and Eddie were fosters - Eddie was suppose to stay only till the Friday after Thanksgiving and that was 1995 and never went anywhere, the same with Sam. These dogs know where they belong, so go with it. Bad foster mommy? NO. When the dogapult aims you have no control over the outcome.
Yes, adopt her. I kept two of my fosters and don't regret it for a minute. It doesn't make you a bad foster mom, it just means the two of you are loving, caring people. Hope your decision will be "YES"!

I'm glad Mark asked the question so we didn't have to! I think it is a great idea. There are many reasons, but the first time it crossed my mind was when you talked about her going to her crate and wanting to stay there at first. I knew she must be so confused and she was having to adapt to a new home again and I hated the thought of her having to get used to another home and go through the same thing. If Mark is okay with it and Maddie is okay with it (I have a feeling you are sold already) then I say you should do it. Your heart doesn't often lead you astray-especially not with doxies. Anyway, who wouldn't want a doxie that LIKES a bath (or shower, anyway)???
WOO HOO - way to fail fostering !!!! Yipppeeeee..... and yes Sandi... you DID know what we would say :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:
Thats great that dad is on-board :thumb:
I knew I could count on you. :thumb: The thing is....believe it not....Mark was on board before I was. In fact, I still have some doubts. She is almost perfect except the little growl thing she does when she's with us and Maddie comes by. In the big bed last night, Bonnie was pushed up against me and Maddie came from under the covers. Bonnie did a growl but I NO'd her with a pull on her collar and she stopped. I also have Maddie come up a little further from her. I think it will iron itself with diligence and the squirt bottlle....though I haven't had to use it yet. We are off to the Wiggle Waggle Walkathon for our Humane Society and I will be seeing Stacey there. I'll let you know if I pop the question (can we adopt her) or let it rest for a couple of days. I'm 90% there.
Sandi - you have made great strides with her in a short time.... it WILL just take a little time. Pack order will be worked out and Bonnie will soon find out that she IS home. Congrats
Parker here: You failed at fostering. Of course you need to keep Miss Bonnie. I hope my Mom gets me a Bonnie. Lucky Madderoo. I really really wants a sister.
Snort! I saw this one coming when you posted her shower attack mode! Lol! Go for it! I think she will adjust very fast to her new furever home!
Bonnie Hooyman is in her forever home! Her adoption check will be in Monday's mail!
She really is such a social butterfly and doesn't mind other dogs and will go up to strangers for pets. Maybe Maddie, who rarely goes up to anyone for pets, will get a few pointers. Bonnie sure LOVED seeing Stacey, her rescuer. Stacey was thrilled because she will see Bonnie at our monthly Meetups!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
:wav: Welcome Home Bonnie - Congratulations !
ALL Right!!!!!! :thumb: Wooo-hoooo, you and Mark did the right thing. I am so happy for you. It won't be long before Maddie and Bonnie are the very best of friends. Thank you for rescuing.
Congratulations!!!!! This is wonderful news. Bonnie is in her forever home.
Bless you for taking her in.

Congratulations! That is so wonderful!! Can't wait to see pics of the girls...
Oh, wow!!!! Bonnie-girl...you just landed in butter!! Before you know it, they'll be best pals. Mom, we want pictures!!! Congrats to all of you!
Pictures will be a'comin'. My digital camera needs a battery(ies) so I'm using a disposable I had. I'm trying to use up the roll as quick as possible so that I can get a disc and post pics.
I have, on good word, that Miss Bonnie will be making an appearance soon because she wants to meet lots of new doggy friends on the board.
Thanks everyone for welcoming her.
I am so proud of you, Sandi, for adopting her!!! :hello2:
Congratulations, that is great news! :thumb:
I'll share my lollipop with you anytime! My DH says the local rescues have my name on file with a picture of a lollipop next to it...as in, sucker!!!
On the other issues, Bonnie will be just fine. Give her some time to sort out her new circumstances and learn that you can be shared. (Forget the water bottle - SSShhh should work just as well...
Fantastic news!
That is wonderful news, Sandi!! :apls: Welcome home Bonnie Girl!! And, welcome to WW!! We can't wait to see pictures either...
