Title: Wieners in Montana
Post by: Dee Dee and Hallie on September 30, 2008, 10:55:42 PM
As you've already heard we had a great time on our trip! The girls were so good and they had so much fun, Delia and I had a blast too. Ron and Gretchen were stuck back at my house but they got to visit the parks and get some R and R. It was really nice having someone at the house while we were gone. The week went way too fast. I am amazed Delia and I made it back at all we kept getting lost or trying to change an entire time zone...(I don't think she mentioned that all the clocks were an hour off at the motel so we changed them all back...which of course made us 45 min late the next morning by the time we realized it was a time change and all the clocks were right to begin with ).

Here are a few shots from the trip. It was an amazing week I got thousands of shots of lion, tiger, grizzly, black bear, cougar, black african leopard, bobcat, wolves, skunk, porcupine, raccoon, pine marten, red fox...I don't think Gretchen believed Ilsa and Hallie when we got back, that they saw all those critters out the van window!

We stayed at the Marriott, it was awesome, looked more like an apartment than a motel. We each had our own room that opened onto the common living room and kitchen. The girls got along so well like they'd known each other forever. We cooked there most of the time which worked well for the girls too they scored treats!

Wow, looks like you had a great time.  So......what did you cook in your room, DD???
Can't wait to see the photos of the wild animals.
Did Ron and Gretchen stay at your house in Centralia while all your girls were off having a good time???

Looks like a good time had by all!  Great pics, DeeDee -- the hotel you had sounds great -- almost like home!  It was good seeing you and Delia and Hallie and Ilsa!  Sounds like your trip was a SUCCESS!  Dee

Sorry Patty I posted around you! Yes Ron and Gretch stayed at my house it was great having someone here but I wish they could have come with us because we didn't have much visit time. I know Dave and Dee would have liked to seen Ron too.

Gosh you guys are fast LOL! I am missing your posts!
Anyone who'd like to see a couple wild animal photos email me and I'll email them! I don't like to post them on the web they get stolen too easily.

LOL Patty Delia got "real food" and I got things I figured my stomach would handle like lean turkey burgers and rice and bread and potatoes.  We didn't set the fire alarm off once!

The whole trip was amazing Dee. It was so nice of you and Dave and the boys to have us over it was the highlight! The hotel really was great too. Thanks for pointing us to Carls Jr the last day!

Ilsa does look a lot like Hasen. She has such an adorable puppy face!

This first shot shows Mufasa the lion behind in his cage. Note how I stayed out of the shots that is a perk of being the "photographer".  :thumb:

Patty, the girls did get along famously. Hallie loves having a puppy buddy to run around with. One day we were walking the girls around the motel and Ilsa went over under a tree to snoop. Hallie and I were out ahead, Hallie turned and saw Ilsa under the tree and started barking like crazy...she ran toward her and I said Hallie...that is ILSA! Hallie recognized her and immediately did an about face and calmly walked along like she knew it all the time. LOL. She thought a new dog had entered the picture.

Yes, these pictures do bring back memories. But...umm...you got me in more pictures than I thought. LOL! In a lot of those pics, I thought you were only getting the girls!

This was THE funnest trip! What could be better than DD and Hallie for company? Seeing Hallie and Ilsa enjoying each other was very heartwarming.

OK...DD told the 'fixing' the clocks story (why didn't someone tell us there was a time change?!). She made a grand entrance to that first photo shoot. She comes flying in 45 minutes late, runs into the house where everyone was, comes back to the van (they had sent someone to look for us). We all follow this pickup with a cage in the back with a grizzly bear in it. DD's a little frazzled (understandably, it had been a nerve racking morning - did I mention we got lost and there's no cell service on this mountain?) and is getting her stuff ready. She says she has a hat somewhere (it's really cold outside). I see one and hand it to her. She says that's not the one, but it will do, and puts it on. I notice it's got these threads at the top that remind me of those little whirly bird thingies that spin in the wind. I'm thinking..."all she needs is to show up out there with a little polaroid camera!"  :2funny: It, thankfully, turned out to be pretty funny. If she hadn't woken up and figured out the time thing, I certainly wouldn't have.

LOL yeah that would have been the icing on the cake...to show up with a little point and shoot amongst the other photographers with their big lenses and tripods.

They thought we were crazy enough that you and Ilsa flew clear out here from Texas to sit in the van with Hallie!

That Ms Dee Dee is what friends are for........................Delia did you happen to get a photo of said hat on said person's head pray tell. Delia was that really only diet coke, I thought you US gals rocked when out on the road alone. Both girls are beautiful as always I love the black and white and the sitting on the hotel trolley, but they looked bored with Ronald Mcdonald.

I'm sure there are many more stories like this to follow. I love the time change one! Patty was thinking like I was about the cooking. I was wondering why Dee Dee was using the "we" word with cooking! Maybe Hallie and Ilsa were helping??
I'm glad everyone had a great time. Sounds like it was trip full of laughter and adventure. Those are always the best!

Oh, what fun the four of you had.  I love all the pics, but my favorite is Hallie and Ilsa sitting in front of the flower bed.  Both look so beautiful.  Your hotel room looked nice too.  I hope we heard more about your adventure.

As usual, DD, your pictures are the best!  Hallie and Ilsa complement each other beautifully and are both camera queens.  I'm glad you had a wonderful time.  I hope you are getting healthier.  Can we have that report somewhere?

Good point Roberta I should have gave Delia's pepsi the sniff test!
Luckily Delia was without a camera when it would have been the most blackmail friendly.

QuoteI was wondering why Dee Dee was using the "we" word with cooking! Maybe Hallie and Ilsa were helping??
LOL Teresa! I did seem to be doing a lot of hovering and watching and making excuses I have to go check on something...I am just proud of us that the hotel didn't have to summon the fire department at any time.

Thanks Barb and Darcel we wish you could have all come too, how fun would that be, a Bow Wow on the road!

Annie those flowers were actually at the drive thru of McDonalds. They had a really pretty drive thru!

Thanks Sandy I felt better than I have in weeks on that trip! And still feel good! I'd say about 90%. I couldn't even clean the house or anything the day before we left now I've been doing yard work and feeling tons better for the first time since early july the Dr has no clue why but I'm not questioning!

We wish you could too Cheryl! Aren't Dee and Dave's boys so handsome. They were very good hosts too!

Ilsa and Hallie were wondering who stole the horses.

These wolf pictures I took in Yellowstone at 600 mm and still they were small in the image and heavily cropped here so the quality is awful but I had to take them because these were real wild wolves, first time I've seen wolves in the wild. We kept Ilsa and Hallie inside the van so the wolves wouldnt' get hurt. Heh.

Ha! DeeDee made me empty my pockets and leave all the 'fun juice' at her house!  Soooo, unfortunately, Ron and Gretchie benefited on that one. Just kidding!

I noticed she kept saying she had to check the downloading of her pictures. Ya think I would of caught on, but, nooooooooooo

I too wish everyone could have come with us. THAT would have been quite a memorable trip!

DD, the wolf pictures came out really good, considering the distance. They look like they did through the binoculars I was using (that is, when I finally found them!).

That picture of the girls in front of the wagon is very cute!

Brekke and Robinton here: wow, Momma sez that the great granhoodaddy had a wagon like that in a pasture in Missouri, and she was so bizzy lookin' at it that she didn even see Ilsa and Hallie sittin' in front of it the first time she looked!  Cool piccies as always, Auntie DD!
