Title: New dog door
Post by: Roberta on September 26, 2008, 01:30:22 AM
Pictures will follow.......................Long story I oredered on that goes into a sliding door, but there is no pet shops etc in Bairnsdale to get it to and they would only courier it to an address not a PO box, so I asked the Bruthen (local) if I could get it sent to them, Howard said that was fine. went in to-day to find out that his wife had forgotten about it and sent it back to Bairndale depot. So Nick went in a got it, it was suppose to be easy HA HA an hour later and I had it correct, with the two of them staring at me. Then trying to get them to go through, as it has a clear flap. Amy took the plunge after she realized there was treats on the other side, but woooooooooooooosie pants Oliver we have had to tape the flap up, he would come through is Amy was half through and he did not have to push the flap.....................boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amy is now trotting in and out quite the little smartie pants.

Remember this summer? Schatzi-only a few tries and the doggie door success. Molly- 6 or more weeks to doggie door success. Amazing how stubborn they can be. Molly would come through only if we were standing there and holding up a corner of the flap. Kinda defeated the purpose! Hope the stubborn one wants outside more than he hates the flap!

It was the opposite for me. Simon-angel was already used to pushing doors open with his nose, he took to the doggie door straight away. Ms. Lucy on the other hand would stand there and whine whine whine. When she finally figured it out she would whine every time she went through. Kinda like whine( I this can't be), whine (im inside), whine (now I'm outside) whine (how can this be?).

If you don't have a doggie door, your a slave to the dog. (and I'm still their slave even with the door)

Penny LOVES her doggie door...it only took her a few tries to get it. When we got a new one (that locks) we took the old one to my parent's house so she could have one there too. Molly, their beagle, will go out it but for some reason won't come back in  :verdict:!

We had a dog door when we lived at the lake (remember the racoons and possums in our house?), but the only one that would use it was our C-A-T Peter to bring in his "friends".    :2funny:  Porky never once wanted to try it.   We tried treats, everything we could think of and he would just look at us like, "Ahem....you expect me to stick my head in there?!"    We're thinking of trying again now that he has seen his C-A-T unka Spike using his and coming back in with treats.

They have  adoggy door in the other place but the flap has always been wired up, and it was not see through so we though duh would be ok as he could see through it, he also the one who head buts doors to get into rooms..............go figure. Up here we could get some very unwanted creatures in if it is open.
Pictures coming Nick will also have to lose weight as he just makes it in the rest of the door with it in place.

Whitney checks to see if it's raining out first before she goes out.

I keep wanting to get the same picture of Schatzi. She checks to see what is happening outside and also inside. Meg called her last night when she was barking and she stuck her head in to see if it was for food or just a reprimand. Meg started laughing so hard Schatzi decided to come on in and give her kisses.

Hubby made our dog door 20 + years ago after our 1st Bouvier was wearing the Johnson pet door,The one hubby made has been though 2 Bouviers and now a Doberman uses it. Patches does not use it because it swings back & she is scared of getting smacked after Buddy goes though so I'm still the door person.Oh Boy

Oh!  That is such a cute picture of Whitney!!  Our "back door" is in the master bedroom and no doggy door.  We just prop it a bit (accept in cold rainy weather) so the Princess can go in and out at will.  (And still the little snot will spite pee when we go away for an errand. Mad at us that she did'n't get to go for a ride.  :dontknow:
