Today (Sunday) was Oktoberfest in Addison....it was 90 degrees and hot as heck...and there were weens everywhere !!! Tons of people who wanted to pet and talk about their own weens that weren't there - tons of fun !
First was the parade.... we only watched because only members of the DFW Dachshund Club were able to be in the parade...... I snapped a few pictures, but hanging on to Ru and Bran and snap pictures wasn't easy..... they wanted to sniff everyone and EVERYTHING on the ground !!!! Lots of little tidbits of stuff to munch on....it was a full time job watching out for what they might find !!!
There were probably 25 doggies in the parade - both show dogs and rescues...and this is the only fair shot that I got.... we saw quite a few standards today, which was cool....

Ru and Bran watching the parade from the sidelines of the stage....wondering why they couldn't march across the stage !!! While we were sitting there waiting for the parade, I started talking to a woman next to me and she worked for Operation Kindness - the shelter where I adopted Rudy. She said she was enjoying see all the doggies and was hoping someone would ask her to dance (a LOUD band was playing polka music.....) SO I told her she could take Rudy out on the floor to dance and she did - Rats - the picture I took didn't turn out....and she was asked to pose for several people who wanted to document her and her doggie partner!

Sandi and Randy(some of our doxie friends that live close!) met at my house and we followed each other out there.....here they are at the parade with Lola and Ries.... we didn't have much time to chat because the band was so LOUD and Lola and Ries were freaking out - so they walked around the park for a bit.

The white lattice is the racing lanes.... so you can see it was pretty short...there were, I think 8 lanes..... once the races started, all the people converged around the lanes - you couldn't get pictures if you wanted to.

This is the crowd and it got more packed......every 3 or 4 people had a ween - there were all shapes, sizes, colors, haircoats ect - very cool!

Whew....dis is me Rudy, I was wiped out when we gots in de car. Mama was nice and put our car seat in de front, and stuck my nose up by de air conditioner vent and konked out !!

Dis is silly mudder.....she was wiped out too - hee hee ! (ACK - I was trying to figure out how to "clean up" my skin - that is why I HATE getting my pic taken .... beside being too chubby to HAVE my picture taken - :rotfl: )

My little girl - pooped out with the heat, and the excitement and the mad race...... at least she made it to the end! It is such a hoot - a lot of them don't even run - they just stay with the holder !!!! In the picture of Sandi and Randy - the woman to the right in the pic is my sister in law Emily - she is my holder in the race and I wait at the other end for the kids to run to me... I zapped some Smokey Links before we went and let them smell them before backing up to the other end...too funny....in Brandy's race, the doggie next to her got a whiff - so when he got to the other end - he came right over to me to get HIS sausage !!! Bran didn't win her heat, but she did get all the way to me !!!

Dat was our day....we are all pooped - especially mom !!! We are gonna go snooze in the recliner and watch some tv !!! Hope everyone had a good Sunday !

Boy, looks like you had a great time!!! I took Sol to the wiener races here, once, and he was to busy fliting with the girl next to him to even get to me. I agree that getting them to you is a great feat. Thanks for the pics I loved them.
