Title: Re stripper combs
Post by: Roberta on September 15, 2008, 02:08:48 AM
I called Colleen to see if she had heard of the haupner ones, she had not and suggeted a Mars. But said to try first a hacksaw blade. I said Madam does not like being groom, she said she should get over it, she was groom every other day. Told me to get Nick to hold her in a lead while I worked. So please don';t tell madam (Amy) what is about to happen. I said I would send her a pre and post photo.

lol-I suddenly got a mental picture of you with the hedge trimmers making Amy into a poodle shape.  I can't wait to see her - you must be coming up to spring just now?

I did one part of her and got about two handfuls out, but the problem is it did not seem to have any impact visually.

During  the first season of Shear Genius on Bravo one stylist had to cut someone's hair with a pair of hedge clippers.  I use a flea comb on Eddie and it seems to get a lot of the dead hair off of him, but then again Eddie won't sit still long enough for me to do a good job.

When I did Winston the first time, I used a different brand of stripper (Something Christianson, I think) and it wasn't very sharp and even though I was pulling some hair as I was combing it through, it was completely unnoticeable.  Once I got the Hauptner, it took 5-6 sessions going all over him to get him down to a manageable coat.  I only did it for 10 minutes at a time.  I've heard that Mars is a good brand-that's the one I actually went looking for an couldn't find.

I used it on Reilly's "bloomers" on her legs and she hates it.  On their legs you have to use it like it's intended purpose, grabbing the hair with your thumb on one side and the stripper on the other and yank.  Not fun for a non-wire.  I decided that I'd rather let her have her bloomers than put her through that.
