Title: Rays Please for Greenacres...Dave
Post by: DeeanDave on September 10, 2008, 12:40:56 AM
Rays would be much appreciated in Greenacres.....this time for Dave.  His leg gave out on him this evening about 7:00 and he fell backwards....he hit his head and also his foot hit the base of a cupboard.  I managed to help him get up but he could not walk on his foot.  The neighbor (Bless him) helped get Dave to the car and off to the hospital emergency room we go.  We just got home (12:00 Midnight)....his head is okay but he has a fractured bone at the base of his big toe.  He is in a walking cast and sees the orthopedic guy in 7-10 days.  This is a major road block for him especially with the fact of having MS which affects his mobility as it is.  So, Dave could sure use some rays.  Dee

Oh Wow!
Sending lots of rays for Dave.  My MIL has MS so I know how trying it can be and I personally know that broken toes REALLY hurt.
I hope Dave gets some extra treats for his recovery and I'm sure he has the two best dachsie nurses in town.

Dee - how is Dave getting along?  How are you doing?????

Dave is getting along okay.  He said the pain today on a scale of 1 to 10, is about a 4 or 5; yesterday and the night before it was at about 8 or 9.  The swelling has gone down and he isn't moving around much.....only to do the necessary movement.  When he does need to move, he has the walking boot cast on and uses a walker for stability rather than crutches.  We have an appointment with the Orthopedic Doc tomorrow afternoon.  I called yesterday to get the appointment and they said they could get him in Friday so we don't have to wait a long period of time.

Sarge and Duggie are not sure what to make of Dave's "shoe" or the walker.  But they are adjusting -- they are pretty mellow especially Sarge.  I took them out yesterday when the monster mowers came......The guy stopped and talked and asked where Dave was -- ususally it's him out there and when he isn't out, they become concerned.  They know he has MS.  So I told them he is okay but that he fell the night before and was in the house with his fractured foot propped up.  If they don't see him or if we don't let them know the boys won't be out for the Wednesday jaunt, they will stop and check in with us.

I'm doing fine -- yesterday I was so tired from the stress of Dave's falling and it being a short night for sleep.  Today, I feel better.  Am working to get the treat box out and was working on a few items (hand crafted) for it yesterday, but realized I was too tired so will work on them today.

We're hanging in there!

I am glad to hear things have improved a little. You guys need a break! Do they know how long he'll have to have the boot on?

Still sending rays from the left side of the state.
